This is where the selection starts getting hairy because all of them are pretty decent flicks at the very least. So, for me, Im having to use the Halloween movie criteria, as in which movie am I least likely to want to watch close to Halloween to help keep me in the spirit of things.
Which puts Phantasm on the block for me. Purely because its not that spooky, its just a quirky, and odd horror movie. Death Becomes Her is kinda close, because while it most certainly has spooky elements, its just more of a Gothic comedy to me that I watch throughout the year.
Yeah, phantasm is freaky. I remember, when I was a teenager, my friend telling me the story since he had just seen the movie. The flying sphere things with the drills . I was getting chills, but I generally don't like horror movies except splatter stuff.

Eh its an amazing mini series. But its not a movie, and its just not something in my spooky time rotation. And its also not popular outside Adventure time fans, and tv/film aficionados really.
I watched Phantasm for the first time earlier this month. Don’t think it’s the best one on this list but it’s a deeply weird but also deeply original movie.

The rest of the series for the most part, is more cohesive. Its worth digging into if you enjoyed the first one.
I am on Phantasm right now. I watched Hocus Pocus for the first time a week before 2 came out...it's ok, but it is not great. Not really sure how they made a 2 with that ending but witches, so I guess there's that.

If we took that literally, there's a few movies up there that have nothing to do with Halloween. So I'm not sure that's the criteria we should be judging these on based on the options.

I watched the original Hocus Pocus two weeks ago and it easily gets my vote. That movie was really bad. It’s a rare movie where the sequel is better than the original.
