Not a fan of the 4th day. It felt like adding the extra day watered down the lineup, and it also felt like too much festival to me. 3 days was plenty, even as a local.

Is the yikes that it's using less of the park than previous years?
Unless the Grove was eliminated I don't think they're using less of the park than usual? Although it certainly appears that they've designated more space for VIP/Platinum than in years past, so the plebs might feel a bit more bunched than usual.

Aren’t all those designated VIP viewing areas at the front of the stage new?

I believe so, but I haven't been to the fest in years, so not sure.

They arnt new. I hopped over in south stage VIP before back in 2017 for Chance since I thought Ye would be there. It's been the same setup for a while now. Same with the side area on Titos and Budlights area.
The only thing that might be new is the split between Platinum and VIP in those areas. Even then tho, that' s not gonna change anything.

No. They had an area like that in 2016 where you just needed a tmobile phone to get a wristband and be up front. Now they want your blood.
Platinum has had dedicated viewing areas at all both main stages and the 2 secondaries (lakeshore and the band shell) for a while. VIP was limited to the viewing decks on the sides of the fields, so expanding the two main stage viewing areas to include VIP and getting rid of those viewing decks is what's new here.
Lolla VIP sorely needed a value boost. They took away the open bar and free food before the pandemic to get the cost down (and differentiate Platinum more) but it made it way too similar to GA+ which is half as much. You really had to value the viewing decks and a gold cart ride between ends of the park to even consider it. Giving people better access to the headliners is a definite improvement, though some may miss the viewing decks.

It was a Galaxy phone, and only on the South end when Samsung paid out the nose to not only sponsor that stage but a whole viewing deck/experience with an open bar and snacks right next to it. Best free festival promo ever.
