this is the Madrid site, Ciudad del Rock.
from Time Out:
Located in Arganda del Rey, the Ciudad del Rock is a complex designed to host some of Europe’s biggest music festivals. It extends over 274,000 square metres, has an annex with a car park measuring 150,000 square metres and has a capacity for 96,000 people. With fountains and green zones, it’s designed to host massive festivals like the renowned Rock in Rio.
At 96k, that line-up has gotta be big. Also, is anyone feeling Coachella vibes or is that just me?
Don't think they're in the same fishing pool, though if PS wants to attract the british lads again, then I'm sure they'll wanna throw some bones at Arctic Monkeys next year. In 2018 AM played both aswell.

PS this year had around 80k visitors every day in W2. If you scale it down just a little bit, it does the trick.
I also honestly don't like it. Gives me more of an abandoned themepark-vibe if anything.
edit: the Mad Cool-people have a reputation in the EU-festival scene of cutting corners, being sneaky et al., so if even they turned down that venue, then idk what Gabi saw in this.

Totally see that as well. I’m not sure when these were taken, either. The bottom one was Rock in Rio but that was at least a decade ago, if not more. I don’t feel like they do much with this site either. I found a few listings for some cheese EDM festivals over the years, but that’s it.

Same. I'm totally content with just doing Barcelona in the future. Would still like to visit Madrid on a non festival trip though, but it certainly won't be in the summer.
I’m still tentative in. My biggest problem isn’t the space. It’s getting to and from in a reasonable manner. I’m guessing that if they offered Mad Cool the space and they said no, there’s a reason why PS thinks they could make it work. Pretty sure “How do we get people here?” was one of the first three questions they asked.
Madrid is one of the few places in Spain (inland) where I didn’t feel awkward wearing shorts. It’s hot. It’s gross. That said, this isn’t Bonnaroo or Coachella where it starts at Noon. Site see in the morning and relax till it’s time to go. I’m not super stressed on it, honestly. Heat is heat. I’d be more worried if it was humid.
E: And fwiw, I remember Madrid being a much cheaper city than Barcelona. Admittedly, that was a long long time ago and things may have changed but I’d spend almost a quarter to half of what I did in BCN. It’s also a good city to just slow down for a bit. Relax and just enjoy life for a little while and remember what’s important.

In both cities, Primavera Sound will maintain its identity as an urban festival with the Primavera a la Ciutat programme for the rest of the week. Also, in both Barcelona and Madrid, this programme will be integrated into the cultural spaces of each venue with different musical activities before the main days.
So this is fun speculation. Am I reading BCN > Barcelona Ciutat > Madrid > Madrid Ciutat? Or are they the opposite? It feels like both of those sentences contradict each other.
"Before the main days" seems more definitive to me than "rest of the week" necessarily meaning the week following.
Hoping this is the case, honestly. I’d rather do my vacationing in Madrid as I can schedule in siestas during the week. BCN would be too much I wanna see and do.
Though, I don’t know if they’ve announced another NOS in Porto for next year, but it conceivably be three solid weeks of Primavera festivals and shows. Zero chance I could do that but the idea excites me.

BCN > Barcelona Ciutat + Madrid Ciutat > Madrid could be an interesting way to solve much of the capacity issues from this year.

Gonna say I’d be okay with this too.
Checking the venues they’re booking for tours, I’d have like a three minute walk to at least one of them and that rules.
Depending on easy it is to resale I might buy an early bird VIP for Barcelona since it's 145 euros cheaper than waiting for the lineup.
I thought about asking on here if anyone that went was not planning on going but I’ve never used access tickets and don’t know how it works and if that’s even an option.
I’ll be fine spending the extra money without the headache, honestly.
Also guessing Madrid will resemble Porto now. Which I’m still fine with tbh. It’ll give me some conflict busters in the schedule.
I know extra costs with flights etc, and I haven’t been to Coachella yet but this festival’s VIP being over $100 bucks cheaper than Coachella is pretty hilarious
