Yves is too big for Sonora; but this is a good list. Really need Bartees there next year. I’m also dying for The Beths to get booked, surprised that hasn’t happened.
I think The Armed might like Sonora cause theres no barrier. They had none at their record release shows so they could go into the crowd easier. Theyre pro chaos.
And I guess if Rufus Du Sol is off the table it wont be due to selling out The Hollywood Bowl in 15 mins vis presale from the look of it.
Y'all are probably right but will be very interesting if we get some underplays booked as Sonora headliners going forward to guarantee a packed tent vs. like Turnstile that didn't fill their tent this year
Yeah they did but they’re playing and selling out a lot bigger venues than before. If they play I could honestly even see them doing an early Outdoor type set too.

Turnstile half filling up a tent the size of the old Sahara is hardly a paltry showing though. But - I get it.

If Turnstile played the Sonora this year there wouldve been a line snaking into Indio Central Market to get in. Dont know what was expected when they had to go against 88 Rising and Disclosure. They had plenty of people in there. It wouldve been more telling if they closed Mojave and the crowd barely went to soundboard. Shoot, Maneskin barely had the crowd go to soundboard on Sunday night and theyre supposedly the greatest rock band in the existence of man.

I feel like, this year, a lot of Gobi acts needed the Mojave to fit their whole crowd. And a lot of Mojave acts didn't fill it, but would have in the Gobi.

I like how they trimmed down the length of the Gobi and stuck speakers on the very back of it; way more room back there to dance and great sound quality. Only downside was the sun. There are always gonna be some acts who should've been gobi vs mojave or vice versa, but on a whole I thought everything worked nicely.

yeah Caroline was also not too full at the same time as Turnstile in the gobi, was just a really rough timeslot

Theyve had those speakers a couple Coachellas already. L'Imperstrice and Hayden James def couldve been in Mojave while the other acts in Gobi were opposite them.

Really? I did not recall the Gobi being that short, with the soundbooth at the back and speakers on the back of the tent. But it HAS been three years so maybe it's just a faulty memory.

the Gobi seemed smaller on the live stream and on those aerial photos but once I was there I feel like it was the same size as always with the same number of chandeliers and it only felt smaller because they moved the soundboard.

the Gobi def shrank, but they had those speakers even in the prior version due to those moments as mentioned where theres overflow outside and such so they needed to beef up the sound. I remember clearly Khruangbin being that way with a bunch of people outside just chilling on the grass and you could hear it clearly cause of the speakers in the back for 2019.

The chandeliers extended farther back in the larger version. They had 3 pairs like equidistant, not a pair kind of in between and such.

Yep! I definitely agree with you on the dance space in the back, though! I remember in 2019, being just outside the tent in the back for Perfume, it was just a dance party. It was beautiful seeing everyone both inside and outside getting down, even people just walking by who caught on to the energy

I hope we get a bit of a runback on some of the electronic acts from 2017. Royksopp, Bonobo, and Moderat will all have released music this year and others like Justice and Bicep are playing shows into the 2nd half of this year. Not saying we'll snag all of them, but I'd love to get at least 2 of these for next year.

Well just based on being active Odesza and Rufus Du Sol are touring through the fall. Deadmau5 has not done a cube show in a long ass while. Maybe Porter will come back cause you figure he puts out another new album and has a new show. Calvin Harris Love Regenerator?
