Definite downgrade from last year's. But I guess that shouldn't be a surprise given how low the turn-out was. Feels like they really aimed high to get on the radar, then backed away down to reality. Grandpa WalMart said...
Portola will probably blow the lineup out of the water. The biggest draw here is how the production setup goes.
Also looks about 20 artists less than 2022, I won't be suprised if they erase one of the cool stages, or two.
Repeats for last year are Dombrance, Francois K, Amos Cochran, The Past Lives. Bringing back Digable Planets who disappeared from last years is nice.
I'll see you out there headoverfeet, screaming out how ironic everything is!

I want to go, but last years lineup was significantly better even though I do love the top 3 on Friday. Where are all of the late night DJs at this year? Sofia Kourtesis is cool, but don’t see much outside of that.
Am semi-excited for Digitalism as I’ve never seen them live. If this thing could add like 6 decent house/techno DJs for late night stuff then I’d be all over this.

Did some digging and it looks like the fest ends at 1:00 am on Friday and Saturday and 10:30 pm on Sunday this year. So that alone probably takes out 10 plus acts over the weekend. Appears that most of the stages are still there which is the main reason I want to go.

Good catch, and it makes a lot of sense. My wife and I were tapping out around 1AM, despite wanting to stay for the latest acts. And there were not very many patrons left over by that time, so I can only imagine how desolate the grounds were at 3AM. I bet those were some intimate sets though. Probably best for crews in that area to end earlier.
As for the stages, I've seen The Cube and the Disco Barn being referenced for next year, so they gotta be confirmed. I can potentially see Next Door portapotty stage and Smokey's forest stage - both the furthest out there in the field - getting axed if they truly are downsizing. I sure hope I am wrong though.
What is very surprising that they apparently axed is the camping section. I can't believe they did that, considering the open field space, how hard it is to get to the grounds, and how much revenue they were getting for 'the glamping' of it. Although I guess it was not enough? I remember seeing it from a distance - there were a lot of tents, and I bet they were not full. Maybe they realized it was too much, not enough takers, didn't feel worth it again... but NO camping AT ALL? Wow.
Guess they are looking for other revenue in now charging for shuttles. Sucks but I get it. We shuttled on Sunday, and it was smooth sailing, lots of vehicles rotating. But I think we might travel by bike again. More adventure, and saving cash.

I would really like to go to this. I happened to be in Bentonville last weekend and they are really lucky Walmart is trying to fund the arts.
Last year it happened to coincide with my Europe trip, oh well. That Friday is very nice and so many good undercard on Saturday/Sunday. Chanel Tres, Sudan Archives, Serpentwithfeet, Digitalism, stuff we wouldn't be fortunate to get in Kansas City.

IG comments are not good. Doubt ticket sales were that strong so understand a downsize but now it seems more in a residential area than before which makes no sense if you're trying to minimize noise complaints
I saw The War On Drugs last year at the Momentary and it was great but it worked because of the small crowd. I have heard some of the other more crowded shows there (The Roots etc) haven’t been as easy to navigate with parking and space. I’m fine with my day ticket to see LCD and Jamie XX there on Friday. But this might not be a good thing for the future of the festival.

My group is going through the process to request their money back as we speak. We purchased tickets solely based on the uniqueness of location and stage designs. They’ve now taken away both of those things and shortened festival hours by 2 hours on Friday and Saturday. Will still make the best of it if it’ll they say tough crap but this is nowhere near the fest I thought I was getting when I paid for it. This fest is one or two key artists falling off from being a disaster now, and I’m not going to be surprised if that happens next.
Such a big bummer for me and my wife. The comments are not happy, and I do not blame them one bit.
I feel like showrunners knew this was in the cards as the final product from the beginning, they just did not want to settle and reveal out of the gate. It all makes sense when camping was not brought back into the original announcement, this seems why.
And now The Cube and Smokeys stages get the axe. So saddening. looks like they will be replaced with the indoor venue of the Momentary, which appears really intimate, so that might be a plus.
I am certain there will still be a ton of fun to be had - once you finally make it to the stages. The Momentary looks cool. But also looks impossible for a full fledged fest to be contained. Hours also shortened from 3AM then 1AM to now 11PM? In the end, there is no way it is going to be anywhere close to the experience of the Oz airstrip.
lots of people in the surrounding area last year were calling this original Format announcement a Fyre Fest mimic. They were proven way wrong with how it ultimately stuck the landing. Now? ya, I get the fyrefest deceitful vibes now.
Going to be preparing for a full on cancelation at this point.
But also - perfect time to announce DESPACIO ALL WEEKEND LONG

Wow…. So Sofia Kouretsis dropped and now Clasixx and Digitalism are just DJ sets. Between this and the location change I’m pretty miffed by this festival. Very little outside of a couple artists on Friday that I’m excited for at this point .
