Just a thread for setlist discussions. Songs you're looking forward to seeing live, ones that you're disappointed an artist didn't play, or some you were pleasantly surprised to hear/see at a show. Bands/artists who've had good/bad setlists, ect.
Also, do you look at an artist's setlist beforehand? Sometimes I like to go into a show blind with no knowledge of what's going to be played but it's hard not to take a peak for shows at a festival. Whether or not a few songs are played could be the difference between seeing one artist over another who's playing at the same time.
Ngl, not seeing "The Strangest Thing" on The War on Drugs recent setlists has me in my feelings a bit.
I have an obsession with setlists. I’ve tracked every show I’ve ever been to on setlist.fm. I make Spotify playlists of the set lists for bands I’m going to see. I make dream setlists for bands that I like. I’ve brought this to the board with the Radiohead setlist draft.

Speaking of Radiohead, they're a band who doesn't play my favorite song from them very much. I know they tend to switch up their setlists pretty often, but I've rarely seen "How to Disappear Completely" on there.

They played it when I saw them in Cincinnati in 2018 as the main set closer. As gorgeous as you'd expect
My partner doesn't use any streaming services, so I burn her CDs of some of our favorite setlists for her to listen to in her car. Even got her one of those CD holders that strap to the sun visor. You know, like from 20 YEARS AGO

Was at this show. Drove down from Knoxville with friends. I remember the strobe lights being really intense at one point and kinda making me sick. But the setlist was great for my taste. Heavy on in rainbows but I hadn't seen them since it came out, and lots of kid a plus pyramid song, you and whose army? And the gloaming.

We also went to Charlotte to see them the next night. Still one of my favorite things we’ve done.

This is me, exactly. Right up to the madness of the Radiohead setlist draft, that is. I'm not that far gone.

I was at that show. Getting to hear Talk Show Host and The Bends was neat.

I almost always look at setlists before hand. Idk why, maybe I'd have more fun at the shows if I didn't. But its a compulsion that's hard to stop. It does make me appreciate bands like Radiohead or Jack White more who switch up 30% of their shows or more from night to night. I see Tool in 6 weeks and I know within a couple songs exactly what I'm getting. GIVE ME EULOGY PLEASE.

We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.

I generally know going in what songs someone is going to play if they consistently play the same shit. I don't really care about spoilers as much as a lot of people, across all media.

I love set lists. I’ll scope out a touring act to see what they’re playing before and if I feel the urge make a playlist of it before I see them.
One of my recent favorites was from Bon Ivers BI shows from last year. I felt like every song was amazing and I didn’t walk away thinking “ man, I wish he would have played ____”
Perth Minnesota, WI Towers 715 - CREEKS Heavenly Father 666 ʇ Hinnom, TX Wash. PDLIF (Live Debut) U (Man Like) Jelmore Michicant 33 “GOD” Blood Bank ____45_____ Naeem re: Stacks Holocene Calgary Lisbon, OH Beth/Rest

My best “holy shit theyre actually playing this” moment was definitely Arctic Monkeys at Osheaga ‘18 pulling out From The Ritz To The Rubble for the first time in North America since 2007. absolutely insane set.
I had seen them 5 times before, but had never seen: YAWA?, Subterranean Homesick Alien, Street Spirit, or My Iron Lung before - all four of them being my favorite songs by them. Seeing My Iron Lung live was always a pipe dream for me and it was incredible.
When we saw them at ACL (will post setlist later but this thread is about to be lousy with RH setlists anyway) I was hyping them up to my friend so hard. I said "you know people think Radiohead is some mopey boring band or whatever but if they play My Iron Lung or the Gloaming it's gonna get rowdy" and then they played both.

This was probably the best Radiohead show I’ve seen.

Seeing Goose in a few weeks so definitely checking their setlists for this winter run of dates out beforehand in anticipation. They do a great job of pulling a lot of varied covers, 1 pretty unique one per night seems like
Depending on the band I actively follow along with past setlists while the band is currently on. If it's a band I love I don't really care and I like the surprise, but if I'm not as familiar sometimes I'll want to move on if I'm at a fest or dip out before the encore to escape the mad rush of people leaving a venue.

I'm very glad I'm not the only one who does this lol
Edit: & I will never know peace having Lana as my favorite artist. I love her discography so much but setlists be kicking her ass.

I have a setlist spreadsheet of songs I've seen performed at MMJ shows, since they're easily the band I've seen most often. Would do it for other artists if I saw enough shows of bands who vary sets, but I'm too new to the others on the jam scene to get there yet. Love the setlist draft idea and would probably participate depending on the artist in the future
