Also Rina was one of my top five wants for Roo '22 and watching this set I'm extremely sad she's not gonna be there. Next year is the year of Gaga and Rina
josh MF freese played drums for 100 gecs at coachella. we better get him for bonnaroo that’s so sick. if taylor hawkins gets replaced by a drummer that’s not dave grohl i’d say freese is in the running
Agreed. I kind of liked the projection screen work they had going. But the annoyance factor of the music and singing crystalized how glad I was I went to something else at Buku three weeks ago. I have hated autotune for years and make that no secret. But when a singer (?) actually speaks in autotune between songs, that's twice over the line. It was more annoying than a typically bad Yachty performance.
Power to y'all who want to ride that rail, and I hope it's a fun time.

do y'all feel like coachella did the right thing? i have no idea how long over they went over their time but going over your set time can mess up the schedule for a stage for the entire day. i can understand coachella cutting them off between the live stream, high budget screens and lighting, and sound issues plaguing the festival in the past. i don't think gecs were trying to be inconvenient but them getting their power pulled was just show business

on the set times it looks like gecs got 20 minutes to set up and the next act (tchami) had 25 minutes to set up. those are microscopic set up times compared to bonnaroo. i understand there's backline equipment but only getting 20-25 minutes to make sure everything is working before being on one of the biggest stages in the world sounds high pressure. i absolutely understand the festival saying nope if they went over

I've been to 4 Coachellas, and sound/mix issues have always posed a problem. Short turnover times between sets is one of the downsides at any festival, but 20-25 minutes to prep for often times the biggest set of your career is tough.
Hell, even Radiohead had awful sound issues in 2017.
I forget who it was that said it in an interview (I want to say Annie Clark), but they compared Coachella to Costco. You can get a lot in bulk, but the quality may not be that great.

I’d really like the album to be out before this late night set. They play like 5-6 unreleased songs. 3 of them sound really great but I just don’t see this set reaching its full potential with so many unfamiliar songs. Just saw them at coach and it was sick. I expect the ln tent to be nutty, but yeah just give me the album a couple weeks before. At the set she said “our album will be out… sometime this year lol” so that wasn’t reassuring.

they don't play again until that may 24 nin date and coachella was probably a big couple of weekends for them. hopefully the album gets announced by the time they tour again. they've been touring the same show since last year so it would be nice to have some new songs to look forward to hearing rather than new songs to discover. they've had the album art for a while and now two singles and more unreleased songs they play live so surely they'll announce something soon

I think this set may be woefully unattended depending on who they are up against.
I dunno, I just really wanted to see Ludacris and maybe Flume if it didn’t conflict but now that Luda isn’t playing and if there isn’t a replacement or a good one. I’ll be doing Flume and maybe check out 100 gecs now.
