The new album by The Weeknd has really surprised me… I have fallen completely in love with it. I had to hide tracks 1, 6, 12, and 16 because I didn’t like the intros… but all other tracks are bops. Might be one of the best 80’s albums made post-80’s. I also say this as someone who has never been a huge fan of The Weeknd. It’s great to shuffle.

I can't imagine hiding the most emotionally affecting parts of a concept album and hitting shuffle

But whatever gets your jollies I guess
For me, it sounds like he tried too hard to be Channel Orange on those.
Judging based on the three released singles, I have very high hopes for this new Animal Collective coming out next week. It sounds mature, melodic, spacious, less chaotic, and just enjoyable. I miss these guys.

I cannot hear the connect you're making here, which is kind of fascinating tbh
The Weeknd is a big fan of Frank Ocean. For me, it seems like he is doing an FM version of how Frank made Channel Orange. I have to admit… I unhid the intros due to your fascination with them. They are growing on me a little.
I've only been listening to some occasional singles and haven't listened to anything other than Earl so far. What's doing it for folks these few weeks into the year?

It's been a weak month for me, but Burial, Wombats, and Aurora are what I've been returning to the most. Twigs too, but its slightly disappointing.

Was ready to throw in for Beach House until I learned there is a part 4 coming out in February. Next month is already stacked for me with new Animal Collective and several new bandcamp finds.

This month is turning out to not be terrible. Huge shoutout to whoever first recommended Hikaru Utada that album is awesome, but so much good shit today MØ is a solid dance pop record, Anais Mitchell is great, Cloakroom I think I’ll return to a lot. But this goddamn St Paul and the Broken Bones album. Honey. It’s sooooooo good and “Last Dance” especially is an epic bop. Fuck I love disco.

Like 90% sure I'm going Yard City here but want to give Anais Mitchell a fair shake over the next few days just to make sure. Probably should give Earl a closer listen (i.e. not while at work) too

I’ve enjoyed some tracks off Cordae’s release, Earl’s is probably a bit better though. Butterfly 3001 was also an enjoyable listen
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.
