Kacey Musgraves' latest album being ineligible for Best Country Album despite being recorded with the same musicians, crew, and songwriters as Best Country Album Grammy winner Golden Hour?
Kacey is just a pop star, she's not a country star.
'Best Melodic Rap Performance' gotta be one of the most stupid categories out there. What makes them so much different from just normal rap performances then?

It used to be “Best Rap/Sung Collaboration” but they changed it in an attempt to reflect a more current sensibility of how melody is used in rap.
Alternative album noms are Halsey, Arlo Parks, St. Vincent, Fleet Foxes, and Japanese Breakfast.
Love Arlo Parks, I've been listening to her a lot lately. Also further proof I have no idea what "alternative" means lol
Yeah I have been really into her this year. XMU started playing her big time in 2020 and then when her album Collapsed in Sunbeams dropped they went Arlo Parks crazy. I don't think she has a song I don't like.
Kacey got nominated for Best Country Solo Performance so I guess that answers that question.
Edit: and Best Country Song, both for certified banger “camera roll”
I'm so confused. Did they change their minds?
The Grammys clarified that her album as a whole wasnt country enough for the album category, but the song that was submitted was country enough. Same happened to Brandi Carlile, she got ousted from the roots/americana categories despite her material very much belonging in there. They done fucked up since it didnt make the cut.
Also my lukewarm take is that Star-Crossed isn’t really a country album, but it’s not really a pop album either. I also think nominating “camera roll” as a country song is entirely reasonable.
They didnt do this to dolly so no reason it shouldve happened now. Same gatekeeping bullshit. The Grammys will keep finding ways to keep certain artists away from categories tey know would get dominated so it can stay as a good ol boys club. Shocked Morgan Wallen didnt get in there even though he was not banned from getting nominations.
Lets all admit that Gaga and Tony will win AOTY and a riot will ensue.
