Meanwhile, the rapper’s music has been skyrocketing on streaming platforms despite the lawsuits and backlash he has received on social media.

Something I've been pondering in the past few days: It definitely sounds like security training was crap, to say the least, and that the festival was understaffed. But I'm trying to think of any festival or concert I've ever attended that would be staffed up enough to handle an uncontrolled crowd surge of this size (this is not me blaming the audience - I know how crowd surges work and that it's not about intent). Unless you're hiring literally tens of thousands of security personnel, you're really kind of banking on an unspoken assumption that something like this isn't going to happen...or, I guess, that you have other logistical infrastructure in place to help prevent it.
I'm definitely not saying the festival organizers and their security contractors aren't accountable - just that it makes me think about what it would actually take to adequately staff an event to make a significant difference in a situation like this.

i've ever so slightly shifted more blame onto Travis Scott, simply because he was in the best position to see what was going on and he had the most power to stop the show. and we've seen countless examples of other performers stopping shows when they see something going on.
not in any way letting the festival organizers off the hook. it's a complex situation with plenty of blame to go around.

Where in the crowd did the worst of the surging occur though? I’m pretty skeptical of the idea that the artist can see much of anything after the first few rows, but I think we can all agree that the artist can’t see anything going on behind the soundboard, which from my understanding is where everything was happening.

good point there, i did not know most of the bad shit was happening behind the soundboard.

Ya not saying I know that for sure, but seems to be at least plausible based on accounts

Yeah, the big question for me is why someone didn't make sure Travis knew what was going on so we wouldn't be sitting here wondering what he could and couldn't see from the stage. Artists aren't in an impenetrable bubble up there. Why didn't word get from the authorities to the production team to Travis's team to Travis?

was wondering how that would go considering he dropped two new songs the night before, imagine a bunch of people who were going to the show in vegas streamed instead as well.
The headlines will be about why they kept him despite having a fuck ton of alternatives and not about anyone else on the poster. Then it’s going to be about how Goldenvoice isnt Live Nation so that’s all you needed to keep people from dying, a different promoter. DaBaby got pulled from every festival line up for a 30 second rant and now you want to say a person who is partially responsible for 10 deaths gets a pass?
On the flip side, he will perform again in his life. So how long does he get banned or whatever? 1 year? Two? Amd btw, I'm not saying I want him to be booked. I don't, even before this whole thing. I just think there's still a chance he could be.
There could always be a chance, but its festival suicide to do it. Again, laundry list of alternatives so why bother and bring the baggage. The festivals are going to see how the legal stuff plays out for now anyway. And its been mentioned that he will just be a huge liability so it will prevent it from happening. It has also been brought up that events might not be able to get the insurance they are required to have because he is on a lineup or the premiums will be through the roof. So does that cost get passed onto the attendees? Any festival that books Travis Scott is going to have an extra $100 a ticket because of his presence? Whenever he ends up back, you can guarantee it will be Rolling Loud since they are the festival equivalent of Travis. If this had happened at one of their fests, the festival wouldnt have even been cancelled at all, they just wouldve screamed “this is hop hop and we dont stop”.
Fan waiting all day by his stage for only 1 set is a weird for a festival. He's the cancelled day 2 set times that only gave Earth Wind and fire 30 minutes.
I cannot believe we’re at the point where I gotta say this out loud: Travis Scott is a performer, an act, not a concert promoter. He doesn’t run the sound or venues or festivals or their staff. He doesn’t build stages or coordinate logistics, he’s not an expert in crowd control or security or emergency medical services. But he does trust Live Nation and all the other concert promoters who are supposed to do all of this. And yet here we are, 10 deaths and counting. 10 broken families. The world is mourning. I’m tired of these corporations shucking their most crucial responsibility. These folks simply say Rest In Peace and move on. This negligence can’t continue. Folks want answers. I’m not buying the Young Black Man did it. He’s being blamed for a crime while the old white men running the corps that Travis and his fans trusted with their lives stay quiet in the shadows, counting their money and watching their stock prices go up and up. The excuse of Scott’s irresponsible actions don’t wash - if his act had a history of that behavior why promote him to bigger venues, why partner with him in the first place and let him headline a bigger audience? Live Nation controlled this show. They control almost all of the concert venues. Artists ain’t speaking out because these same cats are already bought by these corporations. No one can say a word against them unless they want to be Blacklisted and hurt their careers. So I am calling on Michael Rapino’s entire team at Live Nation and a consortium of all the major concert promoters out there to do the right thing. To step up and step out of the shadows to fix these situations and save lives. To stop letting one Young Black Man take the blame, the hate, the fall. We don’t know everything that happened or exactly what failed. But concert promoters have all the power to make the changes to keep everyone safe and alive. Live Nation, your stock is up. The White Corporate Music Biz keeps cashing in on Black Pain, Trauma and Death. This has to stop yesterday. You’re part of the problem. Grow the fuck up, fix this and let us all LIVE in PEACE. -Chuck D

Holy shit, these set times are a tragedy too.
I'd go see Master P for 30 minutes. But in the 1:00 hour? I've never seen a schedule like that.
Lol, people still gonna Rage how you want them too
Is the age to attend currently 17+ and that is why they are offering the roll over to those under 18? Are is Rolling just assuming those under 18 are 17 and will be able to attend next year?

My guess would be that they're going 18+ this year, but then are planning to roll it back next year once we're far enough out from Astroworld that everybody's kind of forgotten about it.

Horrible crowd control. All the performances before Travis took place on the second stage, then everyone crashed over to the main stage and people were dying within 15 minutes of the show starting.
