All assignments have been sent out, so santa-ing should be afoot! If you encounter any issues, please don't hesitate to reach out and I will see what I can do.
Saboi/sadgurl music. Indie rock/folk, post rock, non-EDM electronic stuff, art and hyper pop, etc.
2. What is your favorite musical artist?
Suf Stevens, Bon Iver, Joanna Newsom, NMH, LCD, Aphex Twin, Explosions in the Sky, James B, Radiohead, The National, Pinegrove, Bjork, Sigur Rós, Charli XCX, Caroline Polachek, Dua Lipa, the boygenius gals -- if going for nostalgia feels, Death Cab for Cutie, Regina Spektor, Bright Eyes, Modest Mouse and yes sometimes Swifty
3. What is your t-shirt size?
Medium but I rarely wear t-shirts...idk, the cut just bothers me unless a form-fitting v neck type deal.
4. What is your favorite sports team?
Not huge into the Sportsballs, but I do root for UNC when watching college bball.
5. What is your favorite non-music related hobby?
Cooking. Reading. Hanging with my cats. Frolicking (e.g. hiking, adventuring outside in general).
6. What is your favorite color?
Blue, green and purple are all great colors.
7. What is your favorite animal?
Tie between dolphin and monkey. But also obvi cats in the pet department.
8. What are your favorite TV Shows/Movies?
Historically have watched a lot of It's Always Sunny and New Girl and The Office and Parks & Rec. As for more recently created shows, Big Mouth and What We Do in the Shadows and guilty pleasure dumb shit like Love Island, lol.
9. What is your favorite book?
I never know how to pick just one book with this question... I like 20th and 21st century realism fiction a lot but also interesting non-fiction too. If want to go this route and get me a book, I can send potentpotables some more specifics for this.
10. What is your favorite restaurant/fast food joint?
Sry to be difficult but I legitimately can't eat like hardly anything at any popular US chains/fast food joints. Like, I can have fries? Haha. If someone is interested in getting me a gift certificate for a local restaurant (if feasible to do from a distance?), though, I can definitely provide some ideas for that!
11. What is your favorite "Munchies"?
Truffle chips/popcorn, dark roast coffee (love trying local coffees from where people live!), fun-seasoned nuts (prefer savory to sweet though, and please make sure it doesn't have butter/dairy!)
12. Are you a collector of anything?
Souls.
13. What else do you want "Santa" to know about you?
I'm trying to make my new(ish) home more ~aesthetic~ with decor and stuff, so if you find any sort of cute wall hanging/poster or something cozy/hygge-like, maybe even a throw pillow with Sufjan's face on it, that'd be swell.
14. What is your favorite Christmas candy/treat?
Sadly can't eat most of the traditional treatsie things anymore. If you find some way to send me GF vegan cookies or brownies or something tho, PRAISE BE TO YOU.
15. Is there anything people should not get you?
Re: food stuff, I am both vegan (by choice) and gluten free (unfortunately RIP bread n beer), so I understand that might be a bitch to try and navigate, but if you know something is made sans animal products and gluten, yay, go for it.
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Do I have to be someone's Santa or can I just have it?

14. What is your favorite Christmas candy/treat? Chocolate peppermint bark You know, the kind at Williams Sonoma. But it cost too damn much to rationalize buying it. Like $5 for a tiny chunk. So you don’t. But you wish you did. And every time you go in there you slowly walk by the tins of it. You pick it up lovingly and turn it over and look at the price and put it back down. You tell yourself you are saving for a new car 🚗 and don’t need it. And you slowly walk away. Occasionally glancing back at it.
You guessed it. Look at it, in all it's glory.
Thank you secret Santa.
I will reveal who you are after everyone gets theirs. In the mean time, chomp, chomp, chomp
Also, I am mailing mine today. Once you get it, please get someone to record you opening it. It's going to be a trip.
I couldn't get the video bc it would have been too large to actually post anywhere. 😄 I got two lovely personalized pint glasses and a bottle opener from www.mancrates.com/. It comes in a crate where the top is glued down with about a gallon of adhesive. They kindly provide a small pry bar (which I am totally keeping) to get it off, but there's so much glue that there's nowhere to put the bar in. After carving out the glue from one corner with my pocket knife, I finally had a place for the bar. That corner of the lid immediately broke off leaving me to do it all over again. In total, the lid broke into about five separate large pieces when all is said and done. She was also kind enough to drop a decent amount of red and green glitter in the box which I will probably find in my bedroom until next year. Lastly, there was a container of grits which I will plan to eat and think about how y'all don't know what's good.
We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
