No fest should drop their lineup this week as there's no way it'll generate enough excitement as When We Were Young is currently doing.
One day festival in Vegas with that many acts sounds terrible. You’d never see everything you want and the sets are going to be so short.
I like a number of those bands but it's not something I'm going to travel for. That being said, the excitement I've seen in the past day for that lineup is bigger than almost any festival lineup I've seen in the past decade.

Boston Calling tomorrow. This thing has gotta be coming by like, next Wednesday the latest right? I remember back in their last AMA they mentioned the 2020 lineup was delayed because they were going after Frank. Who the hell could they be trying to get this time

My hope would be Silk Sonic, but it's probably fucking Kanye.
Boston Calling got Metallica. Would that be too off brand for Govball? They did book Tool in 2018, and Guns N Roses in 2013.
Personally I'd love it
They've gone on record in an AMA post-2017 saying that the poor attendance for Tool's day at the festival really gave them pause and had them thinking twice about making a booking like that again. I think it was in response to someone asking about System of a Down, but I have to imagine that'd apply to Metallica, too.
I dunno. Anything is possible, but it'd surprise me.
Be curious who from Boston Calling will also play Gov Ball. Obviously, Foo Fighters and The Strokes won't be playing and Metallica seemed like a last minute add but I imagine some of the undercard acts like Japanese Breakfast, Glass Animals, Kennyhoopla, Peach Tree Rascals and Black Pumas may be a fit.

I wonder how much the fact that they're no longer on consecutive weekends will affect BC/GovBall crossover. Acts would have to find some way to fill the intervening two weeks without incurring a lot of travel costs, etc.
Still doable, of course, but a lot less convenient than when it was just a matter of popping 4 hours up or down the coast from one weekend to the next.

Rex Orange County dropping a new song next Wednesday and teasing a new era/album. I'm not really a fan but I can see him somewhere on Gov Ball's second line playing a 4-5PMish Main or Honda stage slot
Did people think Rage was a possibility for this? They have 5 shows at MSG and, while they're sold out, can't see them also doing this. I assume they have dealing with spec issues with Kanye West's stage.

Yeah, there's no way Rage has been on the bill. First, I don't think they'd be a draw for the target demo. Second, as pointed out here, they're playing a stand at MSG.
I don't know that anything's actually wrong. 2020's by-day lineup didn't drop until the end of January.
