Ah interesting. I'm curious as to what makes the NYC festival more accessible as it's still a fairly pricey ticket but I guess you can spend $120 and steal 30-40 phones to make up for it.
yea i would say mainly the latter part is what makes it a big target. also bc it has a lot of teens and young adults who may be going to their first festivals and and arent super aware of their surroundings. its also easily accessible via metro
LOL and by "aren't super aware" you mean "amateur hour drunk and high, passing out and falling down". It is like shooting fish in a barrel.

I’ve heard Lollapalooza is a contender for worst pickpocket situation, too…for the same reason re: the audience/targets.

Lolla is really bad at Perrys Place cause of the edm and hip hop acts they have on there. Add in the moshing and stuff its a bad recipe. Gonna be interesting to see how the kpop kids fare with pickpockets this year. Outside Lands should be really bad cause they aim for a young crowd and theres lots of underage drinking but I dont think Ive ever heard it be that big of a problem historically.
Any word on this coming back in 2023? If it were happening in June usually we'd have seen a Gov Ball Presents show or two announced, maybe a website update, but looks like nada to this point

They announced the 2022 dates on 11/26/21, so I'd expect a similar timeline.

Welp, I was wrong, and I do find it odd they haven't at least announced dates, yet. Maybe they'll drop dates and lineup all at once. *shrug emoji*
this fest is probably dead, right? no dates or presale at all
I’d find it weird if they killed a fest that’s been around a decade without some sort of announcement. Plus, I think they’ve done pretty well the past couple of years, attendance-wise. That said, I also find it weird they haven’t announced anything at all, yet.
My guess is it’s still happening, and we’ll either get some big all-at-once drop in January, or it’ll happen in some altered form, and working all that out is the cause for the delay.

Could potentially have a crossover Coach or Roo headliner and will wait til January. Its happened before. Its been so stupid the last week with everyone and their mother dropping a poster that it gets damn tiring. And yeah, why would a fest thats been going on for so long just call it quits. They couldve gone the route of Firefly and taken a year off and nobody would be upset about it.

Sad what this fest has become. Used to be an eclectic collection of talent and then became a festival designed for 13-15 year olds to get wasted while watching Playboi Carti
I understand the Drake and Future bookings because Rolling Loud was literally the only profitable live nation festival of 2022. LN wants more festivals to focus in that direction.

bro there's like three other examples of him bullshitting on that page of the thread alone
And they sold less tickets to do that. RL isnt that costly when it comes to the bottom half of the lineup anyway. And you just have to give a spot for the dj to plug in their laptop. No overhead for backline of a band and such to worry about.
if both this and firefly take 2023 off Boston calling may sell out for the pure reason of being the only multigenre festival of a decent size that happens next year in the northeast
