I went to this in 2019 and 2020 and will be there again next year. It's a great little fest. Only 2 stages, so no overlapping sets. Good value too at $150 for both days.
Don't sleep on Sydney Sprague opening on Sunday. Great local talent

Any idea how the vip viewing areas are? I’m always enticed when the vip comes with free (or prepaid) beer...

I don't remember exactly. I know there is a small VIP area at the front of both stages, slightly off to the side like at most other fests. It's never been super crowded. I've been able to get to barricade of the second stage for the #2 act on the lineup by just showing up one set before and making my way up after they end
He should play ever year! Now that Joe West is retiring, they can book him too. It's a shame they never had Charley Pride appear, he visited spring training every year before he passed away.
in for both days. super hype to finally see both Tame and Foo, also excited to see Annie, White Reaper, and Black Pumas again. Jade Bird is gonna kick ass too.
for those that have been before, what exactly do the MLB players do?
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
someone on twitter mentioned that their “one big holiday” thing in mexico is the next weekend so i’m wondering if they need to quarantine there for a certain amount of time? i’m not sure what mexico’s rules are as far as international travel but it could be plausible.
pretty sure most of us knew by this point but Tim said in IG comments that this festival is happening regardless of if the lockout is still continuing or not
we're a few weeks out and i think i have my schedules locked unless there's anymore replacements
Sat: Almost Monday -> Del Water Gap -> Black Pistol Fire -> The Dip -> Roger Clemens/Dashboard -> St. Vincent -> maybe Billy, depends on how close i am after Annie -> Foo
Sun: Sydney Sprauge -> no clue -> Jade Bird -> Fitz -> Matt & Kim -> The War on Drugs -> little bit of Black Pumas -> Tame
Gonna get there Friday so if anyone has any recs for where to eat around the park shoot them my way!
No FOMO for me this year because it would feel like a waste to travel without spring training happening, but this fest is on my radar for the future.
It seems to be a more dad rockier (daddier?) version of Shaky Knees. I could totally see The National, YYYs, Interpol showing up in a future iteration. If i could get that and Rock Raines I'd be in.
I guess this thing is about to get full sent with no protocols which is interesting since Dave and Kevin have both been pretty adamant about their shows requiring vaxx/negative tests. Unless Tim is waiting until the absolute last second to announce it, I’m interested to see how this goes down.

Poke2U and Mesquite Fresh Mex are my favorites on Mill Ave for quick eats. If you have a car, Rito's has some of my favorite burritos ever. Carolina's by the airport has amazing tortillas and burritos too. Haji-Baba is great for something lighter
Thanks! My dad and I are probably gonna bus/train everywhere so if they're accessible by that, I'll add them to the list.
Haji-baba is a block from a rail station, so definitely hit that one. Otherwise you'll be good sticking to Mill Ave places. Are you staying in downtown Tempe?

keep in mind i moved out of phoenix in july, and before that I wasn't really going out because, ya now, covid.
but pedal haus is a pretty cool brewery/bar with nice outdoor patio. one of my favorite happy hour places when I was working at ASU. cartel is great coffee/local roastery right off Mill ave. right down university is Taste of Tops - one of the best selections of beers, and it connected to a liquor store. Casey Moore's has pretty decent food and a fun patio too. All of these are in the downtown tempe area and within walking from Tempe beach park. Mill Ave is the sort of "strip" of ASU so there's a ton of bars. Typical college party scene, and my favorite bar there didn't get its lease renewed by the venture capitalists who bought their building.
dunno where you're staying, but the light rail goes from downtown tempe to downtown phx. if you make it to phx, check out valley bar and crescent ballroom. Looks like Dj Dana is spinning classic country at Crescent on Friday starting at 10PM. they usually have some DJs/live music. valley bar has a great cocktail menu and SKEE BALL
Seconding all of that. Cartel has the best coffee in Tempe. I'm not much of a drinker, but pedal haus has a cool patio (and a great pretzel). Casey Moore's will give you more of a locals feel, rather than the college scene that dominates Mill Ave. Snakes & Lattes is a fun board game bar right off of Mill. Low Key is a cool dueling piano bar that probably has the most diverse age range of any bar on Mill.
Valley Bar is a great rec for downtown PHX. Definitely check out Pemberton if you go to downtown Phoenix. It's an old house with huge yard that's been converted into a labyrinth of little nooks with food and cocktail trucks. Melt ice cream and the ube tres leches cake from the Filipino stand (I forget the name) are musts if you go there

I’m gonna be honest, I have no clue where exactly I’m staying. My dad has all that information. All I know is I’m flying in and out of Phoenix and using public transport to get around.
