Glad there is no Beach House. You would just be watching a dark stage for 80 minutes, whats the use.
And no Wet Leg sadly. Theyre in Detroit the weekend of Lolla which all but locks them up for that.
?? They had a sick, trippy/dreamy stage design when they toured with '7'? And by the looks of it, the new show also consists of mostly the same ingredients.
Last time I saw them at Pitchfork it was dark and no useful photos came out of it. So maybe I have some bias on artists who take the time to light themselves up for the ones trying to take photos.

Of course, because artists need to change their artistic vision and adjust their lighting so that it is optimum for the photographers.
Yeah, Charli hits chicago at the end of April so I doubt she is at Pitchfork. FJM headlining seems like a weak move. You cant tell me there arent some better options out there for Pitchfork even if they kept their original trio from 2020.
Yeah he’d probably be the smallest headliner of whoever 3 they booked but I think there’s always a big audience for indie folk or adjacent acts at Pitchfork.

FJM and Mitski both seems like they'd be pulling a fairly similar crowd (though you could say the same about Phoebe/St. V or YYYs/National as well to be fair)
In amy event, very much hope they nabbed Tkay Maidza off of that, the site has been trying to highlight rap the past few years and she's one of the more promising smaller names out there

Hopefully the show she has at Schubas in early April doesnt matter at all. Its almost sold out anyway from the look of it.
YYYs have always felt like Pitchfork or Riot Fest.
I've had doubts on Mitski showing up here since the tepid review they gave her album.
St Vincent got a 6.8 for Daddy's Home and headlined last year. Doubt they heard Mitski's new album 6 months ago and used that to determine if she was worth the spot. Its just gonna be interesting that after all this it still could just be the 2020 headliners back in the fold.
This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.

I'm not suggesting that they decided to not book her after hearing her album, I just got the feeling reading the review that it felt kind of "Mitski is still cool but she turned us down for Lolla".

I think if pitchfork really wanted to get back at Mitski for not playing their festival they could’ve been more creative than scoring her album a 7.8 instead of an 8.0.

"If you dont like our small bag, here is a 7.8 so you never forget!"
Maybe they get a non obvious choice like Kacey Musgraves. She has the Australia date July 22 but thats not really an obstacle since its a week apart. She is hitting up plenty of fests and doesnt seem in line for Lolla chicago.
Ok, so its sort of concerning that Osheaga has YYY's AND Mitski.
I wouldn't worry about it Pitchfork headliners have played Osheaga before. The fact that Mitski doesn't have a Chicago show on her tour makes me think she ends up here since Lolla really doesn't have a radius clause anymore
Today was randomly Stevie Wonder day on Pitchfork. They reviewed like 5 of his albums and I got nervous and had to double check that he hadn't fallen ill or something.
Going to guess nah for getting booked, but stranger things have happened.
It's not likely nor am I suggesting it's indicative of him playing... but he did play Taste of Chicago back when it was free so there's always a 1% chance.
Edit: had to double check but The National’s APE date is after this and they haven’t announced any other Euro fests/shows for July, so looks like they’re definitely back in play for this.

that lineup is absolutely insane, would def go if it was driving distance
I mean after being 3rd last year it wasnt gonna get any better.
That lineup is for 3 days so Anco being 3rd on a day is still respectable
Edit: Chvrches announced some dates that skip over Chicago in June. They have one date in europe in July so they could come through for a quick trip. I would think theyre the same still so they would sub on any respective day
