Going with Inarritu over Tim Burton was hard. I appreciate the body of work from Burton and he definitely has more good films overall, but Inarritu's top tier ones are all better. I think Babel, Birdman, and The Revenant could stand against the top 3 of almost any of these filmmakers and none of Burton's movies are as good as those 3 imo.
No doubt that Hitchcok was more important impact wise. Definitely one of the top filmmakers of all time and he was probably before his time in many ways. But if this is a personal preference, I just like PTA movies more. I'm sure if someone makes a best filmmaker of all time list 60 years from now, I'd expect very few of our generation's favorites will still be their top choices. Movies evolve with the times.
And lol at the board auto correcting the correct spelling for 'Hitchcok' to Hitchrooster.
Also this confirms that Terrence Malick is the most underrated director of all time
I like Malick and it was unfortunate that he went up against Fincher in the 1st rd, cause I really like Fincher. But I think Malick's films are far more hit or miss with a lot of people. You either love them or hate them with his style. Like, I thought the Tree of Life was great but almost everyone I talked to about it couldn't get into it.

Yeah I think Fincher has a better filmography but Malick is technically one of the best directors of all time. His style is so unique.

Tim Burton movies are great but he's not a better director than Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu. The Revenant, Birdman, Amores Perros, Babel are all incredible.

My thoughts exactly. Posted pretty much the same thing above. Burton has a lot of solid movies but Inarritu has some really top tier films that can compete with anyone.
