Here's the SEC schedule from Nov 20 this year:
Arkansas-Alabama Vandy-Ole Miss Florida - Mizzou Auburn-South Car (good, good, good) Kentucky - New Mexico St LSU - UL Monroe Tennessee - South Alabama (uh oh) Georgia-Charleston Southern TAMU-Prairie View Miss St - Tenn St (yikes)
And I feel like only 3 FCS games that day this year is low historically.
I think it’s just the fact they’re playing one fewer conference game than a lot of the other teams, and it’s particularly in your face to see them do it late season when you’re in the meat of your own conference schedule. I certainly don’t care an FCS game is happening in November, but an *extra* FCS game in November is lame

Like I said each power 5 conference should have to play a 9 game conference schedule.
Still trying to justify that stadium they built in the late 90s. The one in East Hartford, 20 miles from the main campus in Storrs.
Connecticut wanted to prove it was still worthy of major league status after the Whalers left. UConn basketball was getting successful and wanted football to follow. In reality, their best chances were to have been invited to the ACC back when they added Pitt, Syracuse, and BC. But they screwed up and ended up in the American. And managed to screw that up too.

It's not an extra FCS game, if that's what you're saying. Most SEC schools play one FCS game, but for many of them, that game comes in November instead of September, and they play more conference games in September. Florida this year played Tennessee and Alabama in September, and played Samford that fateful November 13th.

Why? What's the benefit to that over an 8 game conference schedule? Like, I could say all conferences should play an 8 game schedule and it's just as correct.
Texas is a powerhouse in Volleyball, great in baseball, not a basketball blue blood but they should be a top 10-5 team for the next couple seasons at least and if the new coach pans out, could be in the mix much longer than that.
But yeah, although not official "rivals" I'll miss the Texas Tech, Oklahoma State, Baylor etc games. I am excited to finally play a&m again though. We'll probably fit two old Big 12 teams into our schedule per year (probably Tech and Baylor or rotate every other season). One in the early non conference and one at the end of the year like Florida does with FSU and Georgia with Georgia Tech. Hope we schedule with Kansas in basketball annually as well.

Because I would rather see power 5 conference teams not loading up their schedules with FCS and low level mid major opponents. Also the SEC will have 16 teams soon. Some of the those teams almost never play each other already and it will only become worse if they stick to an 8 game conference schedule.

But this could just as easily be done by playing teams from other conferences. I don't disagree, I want more good games, I just think it's odd that B10 fans (not you in particular) act like adding a game against Rutgers or Northwestern is some high and mighty act.
eliminate the SEC playing FCS schools in november while we're at it
As a fan/student of an SEC school I agree wholeheartedly. If you want to schedule down just create some fun or unique G5 matchups. I liked that Florida played in-state schools FAU and USF this year. Made it more fun. But playing a school like Samford all we can do is lose. We pay them like $1 million to gome to Gainesville. If we blow them out its just cause we scheduled a weak game, or this year we saw them put up 42 in the first half and embarrass the hell out of us even though we ended up winning. We won't even talk about when Georgia Southern beat us in the Swamp without completing a pass (429 yards rushing) back in 2013.
The only good thing to come of it is putting money in these small athletic department's pockets and giving their players a chance to make a big splash. 0 benefit to the bigger school except I guess 99% of the time it adds a meaningless win to the record.
What do you guys expect from the SEC realignment? I would like all the schools to play each other more. Cocktail Party will obviously live on and I still want to beat Tennessee every year. I'd pretty much be fine rotating all the rest and play everyone once every 2-3 years or so. And just have the SEC championship be the top 2 teams in the SEC. Sounds like fun.

the benefit is to the kids who don’t have to put the physicality of another power 5 game on their bodies. Having those as essentially a bye and an easy week is very valuable to the players
I assume you all heard his fake southern accent from last night’s speech at the LSU basketball game? I almost couldn’t believe it and still don’t understand it.
