1. How did Fleetwood Mac only go for 13? Less than Khruangbin and Gesa. Phish and Fare Thee Well at 13? Macca for less than Kacey?
Seems like a bunch of legacy / older bands went for cheap.
2. We all know if it wasn't for Outkast, Rummy would have gone 100+ on Sufjan.
3. MMJ for 26? This is Inforoo, right?
I think it's a combination of those acts getting older and decreasing in relevance to the core 18-25 demographic, plus those acts having toured so much that it's a bit "been there, done that" for many. Acts like Paul McCartney, who was a super rare get a decade ago, have since toured extensively to the point that most people who would want to see him already have. That gives Khruangbin and Gesaffelstein an edge in both novelty and relevance.
For us, The Beatles and Fleetwood Mac are our parents' music; for a college-aged kid in 2020, it's more likely their grandparents' music. It's a subtle change, but it makes a big difference.
Khruangbin has been at least as easy to catch as Paul McCartney, though.
I think the difference for me at least is more contemporary acts are usually touring new music. If you’ve seen a legacy act you’ve probably seen what you’re gonna get.

That's true, but all Khruangbin's music sounds the same.

I agree I don’t get the hype there but just in general.

bro no 🥺
Love em, doesn't make em bad, but it's true. I don't go to a Khruangbin show like "wow, I can't wait to hear that super chill new song they have out where they say 'ok.' five times".

tbf I haven't seen them yet, and they only have been on my radar for about a year. They're currently on my a-list of acts that will sell me a festival ticket
Fleetwood Mac (Stevie's voice) isn't getting better really and since Lindsey left idk.. Would love to see them atleast once to schrap that off my bucketlist but there isn't like a dying wish to see them or so.

So I'm going to pick on Teddy Flair really quick to explain some of the later-game max bid considerations.
Currently, Teddy has a budget of 58, 21 acts left to draft, and a max bid of 38.
58-21+1=38.
He had bids of 9 on Orville Peck, 13 on Yeah Yeah Yeahs, and 5 on Underworld.
Say he wins Peck. Seems likely. What will his max bid now be?
His budget will be 49, his artists left will be 20, and his max will be..
49-20+1=30
So it decreases by eight, one less than his winning bid of nine.
This is going to be more important to consider when people have less money, but the important thing to understand is that the max decreases by one less than the bid. What that means is that, if he wanted to, Teddy could allocate (slightly) more than his max bid to multiple artists. In the case of three artists and a max bid of 38, he could actually spend 40 total on the three acts, despite not being able to spend 39 or 40 on any one act.
Basically, his max minus the remaining acts after determines how much he can spend here. He would have 18 acts left to pick in this hypothetical, so the math is like this:
