Megan Pete was born in February 1995 and raised in Houston, TX by her mother, a rapper that went by the stage name Holly-Wood. She exposed Megan to the world of rap at a young age, taking her to recording sessions instead of sending her off to daycare. She began writing raps when she was 16 and in 2013 she was in a video that went viral showing her battling against male opponents in a cypher. This helped her gain a strong online following as she continued to post videos of her freestyles. She began using the stage name Megan thee Stallion since she was often referred to as a stallion due being a tall beautiful woman. In 2016 she released her first mixtape, Rich Rachet, and in 2017 she released her first EP, Make It Hot. After the EP, she released the “Stalli (Freestyle)” video, a rework of an XXXTentacion song, which also went viral and garnered her even more fans. In early 2018 Megan signed with Houston-based indie label 1501 Certified Entertainment, then in June released the Tina Snow EP. This was her first project that really took off, including standout tracks like “Big Ole Freak”, “WTF I Want”, “Neva”, and “Cocky Af”. In November 2018 she signed with 300 Entertainment, becoming the first female rapper on their roster. In May 2019 Megan released her first full-length mixtape, Fever. It received positive reviews and had standout tracks including “Realer”, “Sex Talk”, and “Cash Shit”, the last of which is a collaboration with DaBaby. In June 2019 she was featured as one of XXL’s “Freshman Class” rappers, and in August 2019 she collaborated with Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj for the single “Hot Girl Summer”, an ode to her viral catchphrase. In September 2019 she signed a management deal with Roc Nation and in December she performed an NPR Tiny Desk Concert that garnered positive reviews. In January 2020 she released the first single from her upcoming debut album Suga called “B.I.T.C.H.”- a rework of 2Pac’s “Rather Be Ya N***A”.
At the beginning of March 2020, Megan announced that Suga could be delayed while she attempts to renegotiate her contract with 1501 Certified Entertainment. She filed a lawsuit on March 2nd against 1501 and their CEO Carl Crawford, claiming that 1501 Certified gets 60% of her recording income, that her live shows currently benefit the label more than her, and that they were blocking her attempts at releasing new music- all in exchange for a $10,000 advance. Carl Crawford denies these claims, stating that “nothing is true that she said”, that she was paid much more than $10,000, and that he believes Roc Nation is trying to “stronghold” his company. A district judge in Harris County Texas granted her a temporary restraining order to prevent 1501 from interfering with the release of new music (expected this Friday). Edit- Megan has confirmed that Suga will be released on Friday March 6th.

Live Show
I’ve heard mixed reviews of Megan’s live show. I have friends that saw her at a small Chicago festival and they said it was a lot of fun and that she did well, but I’ve read other users here not have so great of an experience. Personally I haven’t seen her so I can’t give a first-hand encounter. I think anyone planning to see her performance should check out her Coachella stream in April, which should give us a good idea of what to expect at Bonnaroo.

All I'm saying is that I remember when Nelly's Tipdrill video made waves for it's lewdness and was only played on BET Uncut. We've come so far.
It's a great thing! I've had an affinity for female rappers since I was a kid, I loved Salt n Pepa and TLC from a young age and was a huge Lil Kim and Missy fan as I got a little older. It's so great to see a flourishing group of rising stars in the genre. For like 10 years the only person making real waves was Nicki Minaj, I like her music but it's so nice to have a plethora of fresh exciting options. Would have been nice to grab Tierra, Rico, or Doja too, but I'm still really excited about Meg

I fully agree with your sentiments here but I think you might want to watch the Tipdrill music video for context...i was solely referring to the amount of ass in music videos lol.

Sort of off topic, does anyone know where to find a high quality version of that video? Last I checked, the one on YouTube is 240p. I swear I remember seeing an HD version a few years back on Vimeo or Dailymotion

Saw her at a Super Bowl Party in Miami. Was not quite the Bonnaroo environment, but I remember feeling like this was easily skippable in the face of a conflict of any importance to me. You will see a lot of butthole at this show.
