This would have been my 18th Bonnaroo (didn’t go in 2002 regretfully) and 15th with the same core group so I had a really hard time giving up on looking forward to it, especially as it was the best lineup since 2015, but if it does happen I think it’s probably not a smart play to go so I reluctantly requested a refund today. I just can’t imagine a scenario where I’d feel good about being part of a mass gathering that soon considering how worried I am about even going back to work in a public facing job when I get called back.
After taking the survey it looks like they sent them to Ambassadors, I signed up for that program then never used it. If you wanna take it I would just choose Bonnaroo for the first question. It seems like they might be making an effort towards fall Bonnaroo, still not holding my breath though.
Curious, I know in the past I was part of the Ambassadors program, although I never did much with it. It definitely seems like they are tryin' to gauge if people wanna do 'Roo or not. Unfortunately it's a "no" fer us now.

If it were to actually happen I'm still a maybe... just gotta see how the next few months go.

My only trepidation (mind you holding my tickets, head of a groop) is that they really shouldn't be asking US for our "interest level". They should be running this from a status of health and long term PR (if you want to be self interested about it). If they don't think they can do a safe fest yet, I would rather get a full fest next year with a better informed population.

You know with how fucked this year is that LN is hopin’ they can make some kinda money. I too. The survey and when they asked “When do you think you will feel safe to go to live events again?” I answered with “not until there’s a vaccine.” We just got our tickets refunded as well. If there’s a huge change come September we may reconsider, but I think that’s highly unlikely.

I hope enough people responded to this question similarly, I know I did. If they risk it and it goes south, that’s it for Bonnaroo, forever. They can’t be that inept to understand that can they?

We don't know their finances. They might be fucked if they don't risk it. We're assuming that they're safe because Live Nation but that whole industry is in critical condition right now and we don't know about behind the scenes politics.
(Not meant as an argument for them holding it, just that it might not be an "ept" vs inept situation here.)

That’s fair, it’s hard to imagine one year out , hurting them to the point of not being able to return but I don’t know the ins and outs.

One things for sure, they'll have to limit the fest down to 50,000 tops. Will they take that hit to break closer to even on their accounts? They will make a shit ton of concessions if they are in trouble and they can still pull off 45,000 with an altered lineup and probably paying people wild OT and hazard pay. This is their best case scenario from someone working within the industry.
With that said, I wouldn't fold up my cards before Coachella either
I struggle to even picture a scenario where they’ll get a decent amount of bands willing to perform at a fall bonnaroo
I honestly don’t think it will be that hard to get a lot of artists. They could be fluffing it up but I read a quote from an agent that said artists are really wanting to get back out there. Obviously some of the more cautious artists will drop but I could see them getting a decent lineup

I think wanting and willing are different things. I really want to see a show. But I’m not willing to at this point. I think when it comes down to signing a contract, I think a lot of bands will be the same.

I dunno. Chris Stapleton cancelled his tour yesterday. Weezer/Blink-182 cancelled theirs today. Neither strike me as being at the forefront of caution. If anything, I think larger scale bands are going to worry about liability. The venue Chris Stapleton is playing at in Knoxville has a 21k capacity. Even if you half that, you are looking at 10k+ of people who are potentially infected and susceptible to infection. Your show being the epicenter of an outbreak is going to be bad press at best and a lawsuit at worst.

Also, like many here, the more I think about it, I just do not see a scenario where Bonnaroo is going to happen in the fall. They're just letting some time run just in case things take a shift to the positive.

I think it will also get to some point where the acts themselves just dont want to run the risk of getting it.

I think they're waiting to confirm whether they should move to summer or next fall or doing financial stuff. I don't think they're holding out due to optimism.

i've seen a comment from live nation that they're hoping for some smaller venues in the fall, there's no way it's happening. all about cancelling/postponing logistics at this point
Since a lot of the venues here in Austin are outdoors they all have concerts still on their schedule in July and even June. Like I’m talking as soon as June 4 Whitney is playing the Mohawk
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round

All I can see about that June 4th thing is that Whitney is doing a livestream performance you can pay to view. Not that an actual show is happening

Wow my bad yeah I totally got tunnel vision when I didn’t see the word postponed in front of it! Oops. Well then it’s July that regular shows are starting up at that venue and all over the rest of town. Either way looks like this summer live music will be back in Austin be that a good or bad thing

Tbf it looks like most stuff through July at that particular venue is canceled as well. There are a couple still on the schedule but I wouldn’t count on those either
Of course everything is up in the air at this point
