Has anybody that's looking for a refund just contacted them or are we all just going on rumours?
Not personally but I have a friend who tried to get a refund with no luck.
Through the insurance company? I'm not doubting, just extremely shocked. That's exactly why you buy the insurance, they shouldn't be able to refuse you a refund. It's for ANY reason.
Lol that ticket insurance company is not going to make it through the month if they can’t offer a service made for something like this.
“Secure Ticket™ does not guarantee a refund. You must file a refund request and you will be notified if your reimbursement claim is approved once the review is complete.”
I mean you have to imagine that none of these ticket insurance companies foresaw a scenario where all of the events in the world were cancelled for the better part of a year. They're all fucked and thus so is anyone that bought the insurance.
Do insurance companies have their own insurance? Like, is there a chance that these ticket insurance companies have pandemic insurance like Wimbeldon does and so they need to file claims to respond to their claims? I have no idea how these things work.

Reinsurance does exist but usually I don't think most insurance companies hold external policies (from my experience at least)

I think the Wimbledon thing is a fluke. Not many companies likely have pandemic insurance. It sure wasn’t something on the top of my list to get.

1. You start Cdevaney Insurance, Inc. (CII), I start Postjack Insurance, Inc. (PII) 2. You start Cdevaney Hedge Fund (CHF), I start Postjack Hedge Fund (PHF) 3. CII sells pandemic insurance to PII 4. CII buys insurance to cover the pandemic insurance payout to PII from PII 5. We create a collateralized insurance obligation (CIO) from the insurance we have sold to each other and sell that on securities exchanges worldwide 6. CHF sells a derivative hedging instrument to PII to cover the possibility of the CIOs decreasing in value 7. PHF sells a derivative hedging instrument to CII to cover the possibility of a CHF derivative hedging instrument loss 8. Pandemic hits 9. ... 10. Profit

i'm not strong at math but i think this works.
My takeaway from all this is that you're subtly advertising your tax services. Well done.

I mean, it makes sense that we can’t have concerts till we have a vaccine and a vaccine takes 18 months. I don’t think that is that crazy of a prediction. Unless a vaccine gets tested less rigorously or Trump is somehow right about hydrochloroquine being literal Jesus

Some of the studies in France on hydroxychloroquine have been stoped due the dangerous side effects. It causes something called QT prolongation. This can lead to cardiac arrest and death. This drug is not our salvation. Remdesivir is showing some promise though. And 18 months for a vaccine is if we really push it and everything goes right. However, China has moved to phase II of clinical trials. Phase I was to go on 6 months but they moved on to Phase II in 14 days. They are testing it on 500 volunteers. God speed.
Edit-and a little more good news.
Moderna isn’t so far behind. In a recent interview with CNBC, Moderna Chairman Noubar Afeyan said the company’s hopeful it could enter phase 2 “in the spring, perhaps early summer.” In a securities filing, the company said that it might seek emergency use of the vaccine and make it available to some people, including healthcare professionals, possibly in the fall of 2020.
It took like 5 years for my company to go from a phase I/II clinical study that Stanford performed to permission to start our phase III study andddddd then coronavirus shut our study down. At least we treat the first patient! I just don't see an effective vaccine going commercial in 18 months. FDA would have to bend a lot of their guidelines I would imagine, also not a very robust stability program. 2022 Roo is going to be FIRE!
My brain honestly cannot comprehend the world not really restartin’ until the fall of next year. Like...what?
It's not the world, just mass gathering social events.
Nah, it's going to be a hard ripple effect, I know the arts in general are going to be hurting for a long time over this. There are significantly less jobs that are going to occur even when things re open. I know for a fact that most of the people in my building are now unemployed, because they work in entertainment, retail, or mid-level construction. The idea that we don't start a robust program to deal with those deemed "non-essential" and without means soon is going to be a catastrophe.

When things resume, do you think artists or bookers will have the upper hand in negotiations? Or will it stay the same? I imagine a lot of festivals will go under and am trying to find a reason to hope for quality lineups.

I've sadly accepted that Bonnaroo is most likely not happening this year. But I just don't want to miss this lineup, even if it's next year. Would they have already booked headliners and other artists for next year's lineup well ahead of time, or is there a possibility we could see a similar overall lineup next summer? I can't imagine they'd want to let such a successful lineup go to waste.

It'll be interesting to see. They've said in the past that some acts are lined up a year or two out. I wonder if they already had some acts lined up for 2021?
One healthcare expert says he doesn't expect concerts/festivals to return until Fall 2021. "I think those things will be the last to return."
Unless it's coming from Dr. Fauci or Birx predictions like this just seem like fear mongering clickbait and headline grabbing.
I agree I just found it interesting and honestly a bit disheartening. It came from this NYT Article about restarting America. It came from Bioethicist Zeke Emanuel. Not sure if I can link it, but it's pretty easy to find.

On The What Podcast, they were making it seem as though festivals will have the upper hand because acts will be less inclined to tour from town to town, and would rather play a few festivals. They also gave me the impression that a lot of acts are going to be looking for shows and will be willing to play for less than they usually require. It could just be optimism on my part, but that gives me hope that if and when Bonnaroo happens next, we could see a solid lineup.

I have no doubt that we will still see a pretty solid lineup. Yes, they do start gettin' each lineup together (usually the bigger names) way before they release it. How will this affect 'Roo '21? Who knows? The live entertainment industry is goin' through a huge upheaval right now. Some bands/artists are not gonna come out on top after this is over. I imagine LN will likely try and get a majority of this lineup to play next summer ('cause who really thinks SeptermbeRoo is actually happenin'), but then we'll also have new albums to contend with as well.

Re: new albums, I could see a lot of recording plans put on hold until this is sorted out. Maybe not the smaller bedroom producer types, but for bigger artists with larger production teams or bands with members spread across the country, getting together to write, rehearse, and record may not be that easy for a while.
