They are getting roasteddddd on social media right now. It makes no sense to pivot genres and bookings so hard after two years where they worked to build a brand...

Lol did they delete and repost on socials because the feedback was so bad?

Yes, they keep deleting and making new posts because people are so pissed off.
I would've been fine with Washed Out(full band) & of Montreal headlining. I don't get why they aren't playing the festival.
It’s all so bizarre, this lineup would look 100x better with those two doing full sets. Also, is this lineup going to attract anyone that’s even interested in a DJ set?

Yikes, what is going on with booking around here this year, are Ohio(ish) festivals dead? The big fests are still getting the big & current names we'd expect, and the smaller ones mostly seem super light at the top of their lineups. Bunbury, Bellwether, Forecastle, Wonderstruck, and Nelsonville (a work in progress, and my fave) are all looking kind of meh. I don't expect much from Homecoming because I'm not a fan of The National, but it's looking as good as any of those.
I sincerely mean no offense to anyone who likes twenty One Pilots, Marshmello, The Avett Bros, Billy Strings, Shovels & Rope, Nathaniel Rateliff (I like him), Walk The Moon, PTM, Cage The Elephant, but they're all headlining somewhere? Jeeeeez, the universe wants me to go to Firefly or Bonnaroo, or something, haha.

As much as I love music festivals, I think we’ve gotten to the point where there are too many, and most of the lineups are becoming diluted as a result.

This is the first message board I've ever been on, the only reason I joined is because I love Bonnaroo and wanted to read and talk about it all year long.
I have absolutely no evidence to base this on but I feel like booking fests is just getting more costly and that’s why you see acts like Maggie Rogers and Cage the Elephant headlining large and mid size fests. And smaller fests book acts like PtM and Nathaniel Rateliff to headline
"I really wanted to get back to the idea of a truly alternative music festival."
"There’s nothing worse than going to a music festival and one year, it’s a country act, and then there’s a hip-hop act the next, and then a DJ or EDM."
"If you’re going to have fans that come back, you need to be consistent."

Yeah, um, about that... One less relevant quote from that article, just because: "I fricking love Rush"

Not surprising given how shitty of a guy the founder is. Give his reddit history a gander if you want to get more proof of what kind of guy he is: www.reddit.com/user/bdonabedian/

I had no idea. Loved this festival in its first year, but I can’t in good conscience go back, even if it survives/future lineups improve.
Ugh. And it was so nice having a very mini coda to Roo in the late summer. Feels like a fever dream that this ever was a festival I liked and supported.
The fest blocks anyone who says anything remotely critical of this move. Bellwether is through.
I feel like they also deleted comments or blocked people critical of their lineup announcement. We went in Year 1 and thought it was a fun, nearby, family-friendly option but this has left a bad taste in our mouth. On top of the weird shift in lineup focus. We no longer plan to return.
