I feel ya - I live in NYC & have gone to GovBall yearly since 2016, but I jumped ship in favor of Firefly the moment both lineups were out. (If GovBall had kept its original 2020 lineup + policies, it might be a different story)
I'm torn between going to this festival or doing Gov Ball. It's a whole lot more effort to do this one, with camping and all, but I like the lineup and headliners better than Gov Ball. Choices, choices...
The layout and atmosphere of the woodlands compared to the Citi Field parking lot will feel a lot better I think. Also, EDM Shows and others playing after dark/into late night at firefly compared to early evening at gov ball. No headliner scheduling conflicts at firefly.
another thing to keep in mind tho is mosquitoes are much worse in the woodlands obvs and jamie xx is at gov ball. havent been to either honestly but im doing gov ball for the first time as i was in the same dilemma as you
Mosquitoes should be gone by last weekend of September though.
ahh i forgot its in the fall lmao. this yr is screwing me up. one of my friends went back in 2018 and specifically mentioned the bugs being horrible but that was june obvs

Agreed lmao I really want to see Jamie xx! The other thing that sways me is my co workers--whom I've only met a fraction of throughout the pandemic--will be going to Governor's Ball, so there's a social aspect that I couldn't necessarily replicate at Firefly, even if I went with a friend.

What’s the likelihood that Firefly will require proof of vaccination or a negative test? It seems like more and more festivals are implementing it now with the Delta variant surging.

I'm confident they will announce the requirement within the next two weeks.

More of a 2022 question, but what’s the likelihood Tyler and Kali play this next year? His tour is promoted by AEG and it’s selling pretty well.
Depends on Europe dates. Tyler already has 2 rescheduled Europe shows outside of Primavera and more should be coming. If he is rebooked for Parklife in the Uk which he was initially on for 2020 then he is out cause they were the same weekend calendar wise. Primavera being 2 weekends has a pretty big effect on the June east coast fests.

Only 30 days until Firefly Thursday, and I officially can't wait to see Phoebe Bridgers! I hope she gets at least a 1 hour, 15 minute slot, so maybe- just maybe- she can squeeze in this sick cover:
