i'm sorry you find the truth harsh. i recommend to you (and everyone else in this thread tbh) this book, which of course has the author's personal antidotes but is also based in true scientific studies regarding weightloss:
I will lose the 100 lbs (well technically 85 as I'm down 15 already) by Bonnaroo 2024 to prove this is bullshit. And keep it off.
look, i'm sure you can do it. but you're proving my point. this isn't on you. you aren't gross, there isn't anything wrong with you b/c you weren't able to keep the weight off. that is your internalized fat phobia speaking.
"Research suggests that roughly 80%of people who shed a significant portion of their body fat will not maintain that degree of weight loss for 12 months; and, according to one meta-analysis of intervention studies, dieters regain, on average, more than half of what they lose within two years."

What I'm hearing is that 20% of people succeed at maintaining weight loss and I need to do some research on what they did so I can emulate it. My first diet I'll admit was a disaster. I just restricted calories to 1500 / day and went on a bunch of walks and distracted myself by playing FIFA every time I got hungry (didn't have a job or school). Didn't make much of a plan to keep it off and when I got into an unhealthy relationship it came back. Learned my lesson and how emotionally painful it was to gain back the weight, so I don't think I'll repeat that mistake. This time I'm trying to focus it more on sustainable ideas (ie: intermittent fasting, low carb/sugar, playing rec sports more, etc...) rather than crash diets.
I don't necessarily think there's anything wrong with fat me. I just fit me gets more of what he wants out of life (enjoying playing sports more, having more fun at marathon-like music festivals, having dating options again, etc...)

And in that way I encourage you to set your goal as a feeling or skill rather than an exact weight: (until I can run a mile without stopping or until I can hike this mountain in my town or until I can stand at a show for three hours without sitting)
The problem is we are always taught, lose 50 lbs you’ll be good. No actually 100lbs. Hmmmm maybe 150lbs. When it may be that you keep near the same weight but become more heart healthy etc. You know what’s best for your body but being is fat is not ALWAYS what’s “wrong”.
shouldn't you be licking rummy and todd's booty holes right about now instead of bothering me
catching up on all these pages of EAP's tantrum rn and why/how is my booty hole brought into this convo when i literally hadnt even posted in here during any part of the conversation?
Considering you've found the need to respond to my threads as if you are threatened by me I offer you some peace my confused counterpart. May you find peace in your restless soul.

Fair point. Thing is running a mile without stopping can be accomplished in 3 weeks of intentional training by most other than most extremely obese. Running a half marathon again would be nice.

You keep missing the point and it is killing me buddy. I guess just good luck and hit us back up when you can apparently do anything you desire at 100lbs less.

once again. the reality is most obese people are going to stay that way without surgery, pills or turning into a fitness trainer as a full time job.
As someone who lost 60 lbs thru the "fitness trainer as a job" approach between 2008-2015, only to gain it all back between 2016-2020 due to an out-of-the-blue Rheumatoid Arthritis diagnosis, this is the truth. Thankfully I was able to get my RA under control by 2020 and have been doing weight training twice a week since then. My weight has stayed between 260-270lbs since 2020.
I know people found me more attractive when I was at my leanest in the early 2010s, and I know having this extra marbling on my frame could lead to health complications 30-40 years down the road.
Would I like to lose 30-40lbs at some point? Yes. Am I willing to make lifestyle sacrifices again to achieve AND maintain it? Honestly I can't be bothered. Maybe if I weren't so comfortable being single....
I do have hope for GLP-1 receptor antagonist drugs to make losing weight easier in the years to come.
lol and y'all wonder why i get so upset. i'm literally asking this fucker to stop making fun of being fat and he refuses. but please, tell me more how i'm the issue.

No dog in the fight, but I know Rummy from the last two Bonnaroos. Vouch 100% which has nothing to do with knowing her off the board since I’m guessing 98% or so of us who know each other is specifically due to the site. As you know, I always had a super high opinion of you as well.
