I'd be very interested in perusing a parallel thread to this, but for album covers (with respect to Freddie Gibbs and Meatball Sub)
so like album covers that give a clear "statement of purpose" for what you are about to get into? cool idea. have to make sure it doesn't devolve into "post your most fav album cover ever" though. but we behaved pretty well in this thread so that's a good sign.

Exactly. They could definitely be your favorites, but a focus on "covers that best fit their respective albums" over "cool covers"

yes, like a good example of a bad example would be the cover to yankee hotel foxtrot. it's a cool album cover, and i wouldn't have it any other way, but it doesn't really tell you anything about the album.
edit: anyway whyont you go ahead and start that thread
I really like My Boy (Twin Fantasy) off of Twin Fantasy by Car Seat Headrest, really great job at setting up the album themes and is called back on a lot

All three Fleet Foxes albums nail the opening track
Same goes for all four Father John Misty albums for that matter
For sure. I just particularly remember the first time I heard his haunting voice singing, "so now I am older than my mother and father when they had their daughter... now what does that say about me? How could I dream of such a selfless and true love? Could I wash my hands of just looking out for me?"
Even though this is unfair, I always think of the first FF album as being more lighthearted and cute. So when I heard that 15 seconds at first it was just so jarring and exciting at the same time.

I'm with you 100%. Montezuma is probably one of my top 5 FF songs, and that line is imprinted in my brain.
When I went to see them for the first time last summer I was bummed to see Montezuma wasn't making their setlists for most of the tour before that and then enough people in the crowd shouted it out where Robin did it solo for the encore instead of Oliver James. I was very very happy.

Gahh fuck you for hearing it last summer. I noticed he did it a handful of times on setlist FM. Saw them twice and obviously didn't get it. So far superior to Oliver James imo.
