Still my AOTM; though I'm close to changing it to Toro y Moi. And I like Conor Oberst so I gotta check that new project out.
Toro y Moi's record was so inconsistent tho. I just know he could've done a lot better than this cause the beats (apart from the synth funk and pop songs) were mediocre at best imo, that plus the features performed poor aswell.

Dawn and William Tyler are both pretty good from this week, but yeah it's definitely gonna be James Blake for the month for me. Just gotta lock in the HMs

If this list were to keep going, William Tyler would probably be the 11th name.
Steve Gunn is a bit too sleepy for my taste, though I did manage to get two back from the rail at his set at Bonnaroo 2016 by walking up half an hour after he'd started

All set to vote this morning and ran out of time before work. Glad I waited. I took a chance on Lip Talk's new album and it's been on repeat since then.

Seriously floored with this thing.
Second song and I already love it.
Yea. This is rough. SVE is like a punch to my gut but sonically, this album is living in my heart.
Can someone explain what they like so much about this James Blake album?
I posted some feelings on it over in Now Playing, but it really hasn't stuck with me and I can't figure out what i'm missing.
Like as of right now it probably won't even make my HM list...
I feel like it's the album he's been working towards since the beginning. It might not my favorite of his or his best, but it is a return to form and a more mature/polished version imo. The Colour In Anything, which I still enjoyed, was fine but suffered from too many lull moments. We get more of that vulnerable guy from his debut (Are You In Love? could fit right in his self-titled). That's what initially drew me in to him, so it's nice to have those moments again, but blended with a more modern, slick take - an extremely pleasant blend of electronic/r&b. This one keeps me engaged throughout outside of a couple of tracks. The features are also worth mentioning (Andre 3000's verse is killer).
More simply, I know it will be the album I return to the most from this month. He's a favorite and style/sound is right in my wheelhouse.

I really like the lyrics, and sonically I think it's a really fun, danceable, album. It feels so much lighter and playful compared to TCIA. His first two are still my favorites. But, here, I think watching him open up about falling in love and his own struggles to stay embodied and find happiness just really hit home for me and where I'm at in life right now and different themes throughout my life. I think the R&B, hip hop influence, and change in his style sonically complement those lyrical themes really well, and with it being a shorter album than TCIA it just feels more condensed and to the point. Also, as said, Andre's verse is fire.

I wanted it to be Deerhunter but it was a little "out there" for me. I'm going to go James Blake, full disclosure though, I had never listened to him before this album.
