Someone explain me the hype for the new Peggy record, I don't really get it. It's goofy, the production is clever but it tries so hard to be edgy and leftfield that it looses it's appeal to me.

The album is pretty consistently exciting imo. I can understand someone finding it to be gimmicky or try-hard, but I was just into it and on the edge of my seat throughout my first few listens. Im not yet at a point where Im rolling my eyes when all of the beat switches occur. I just buy into this guy. The title track, Beta Male Strategies, Free the Frail, and Kenan Vs Kel are some of my favorite hiphop tracks from this year and I think this will end up competing with Little Simz for my favorite HipHop album of the year.
Im not sold on all of the breaking of the 4th wall (so to speak), the random No Scrubs cover, and There are 2-3 tracks that dont move me. But Ive had fun bumping this since it came out.
Actually, this and the Jenny Hval may be two of my top 5 albums this year but I dont listen to nearly as much as you guys do.
Mentioned this to Todd and its my summary for this album: This album is more experimental yet less abrasive than Veteran, and Im all about that.
11/19: Caribou 11/22: Ranger Trucco 11/29: Armand Van Helden* 1/16: L'Impératrice 1/30: Jamie xx 2/1: DJ Seinfeld 2/7: Mild Minds* 3/1: Father John Misty* 3/19: Confidence Man 3/23: DARKSIDE 5/8: Rüfüs Du Sol

Chelsea Wolfe and Brittany Howard are leading the pack for me this month...With L'Epee and Men I Trust right behind them. Just like August, it's been an outstanding month of new albums.
At first I was confused as to why Sturgill Simpson was making an anime but after listening to the album the only way his new musical direction makes any sense is if he suddenly dove headfirst into a midlife otaku phase so I get it.
I think this Men I Trust album is boring as hell and too long.
Needs to be about 30 minutes shorter imo. Nothing there justifies 70 minutes
They clearly announced it as a double lp, its not to "long". Both sides are 35 min and I think they pulled that off great doe such a young band. But thats my opinion so ya..
