Cudi looks like he's having a blast up there. I'm sure there was a point in his career (probably around the time he was bandleader on the CBB tv show) when he thought he'd never be in front a crowd that size again, so good for him!
Father Stretch My Hands -KSG played in full- Welcome to Heartbreak Paranoid Ghost Town
A little underwhelming for how hype I was. Loved the stage show, but not sure how I would feel if I waited all day on the rail just for Kanye and Kid Cudi to never come out of that floating glass box. But it's cool for the people in the middle of the crowd and in the back. Ye needs to start rehearsing for shows lol. He seemed super nervous once he started forgetting the words.
Left Brain was entertaining and Domo Genesis isn’t bad. Been a long long time since I’ve seen them. I’m staying up for the replay of Taco and Flatbush. I thought Cudi was pretty good. Kanye was kind of acting a fool but some of that was funny. I’m still not much of a fan of Brockhampton. I thought this was a little more together than ACL. I don’t get the appeal but they have lots of fans so jam on.
Edit - Zombies are the shit today. Up with Tyler and Pusha T, I felt like those were the wildest 3 shows I watched.
Yeah Kanye definitely wasnt great tonight, but Cudi sounded pretty good. The song Kids see Ghosts, Reborn, 4th Deminsion, Paranoid, and Ghost Town were the highlights for me.
Zombies set is bonkers. I love how they are x+ factors better than Migos. If they dropped the 8-12% hyper masculinity shit, they are there. It’s late 2018 so respect some shit and be top
Alright so sunday was exvellent as well. This festival is really cool, well-ran. Only issue was leaving sunday night was like being in a pack of sheep.
Going to festival you gotta keep in mind how much exclusive merch will be available. I got a Golf Le Fleur bag that was only available at this. If anyone plans on going to this definitely bring $300 minimum.
The postmates set up with the food and merch looked to be successful, i didnt use it so i dont know.
The carnival rides were all free, i didnt ride any since they were all two to a ride and i was third-wheeling hard. Games were hit or miss. Some were simple gimme’s (plinko style pinball with mini soccer balls, won a prize regardless of where it landed), some were basically impossible (getting a wiffle ball into the 1 yellow space out of like 80 spaces.) Tickets were $1 per game. The VIP area had the easiest games.
The layout stretched across the parking lot, stage on each side, wirh the higher level of the parking lot containing all the merch stores and a separate ride area with a dj stage that we never went to. A lot of people who had gone to previous years say this wasnt as great as before. I thought it was fine though.
The crowd vibe was actually really nice. People werent as rude as i was told they’d be, probably because theyre mostly Tyler fans and project positivity and a brother/sister type atmosphere. Sort of like Roo i guess, but into hip hop/r&b/rap particularly. Some shows got pretty wild (Rocky/Tyler/Jaden/some of Earl/some of KSG)
I highly recommend going to this, just bring $$$, and get vip, it was only $400 (payment plan optional during presale). Im already planning to go again next year.
Bane’s World. I dig em. Calm, yacht-rock style. Definitely would see again. Not sure they really fit the vibe of the day.
Taco’s dj set was great. I remember seeing OF back in 2012 when he’d open with a 5-10 set to set the mood. Now he’s doing 45-60 min sets with well-thought visuals and pyro. He’s come up in a big way. Hella proud. He opened with Come Back To Earth for Mac, and ended with Frank’s Self Control. Guests were YBN Cordae and JUICEWRLD.
Jaden Smith was actually a really good. His songs are great live, and his commentary is very odd. He claimed to be Tyler’s boyfriend at one point. Then needed his actual girlfriend to come up to give him a hug for emotional support. It was a trip to think how this guy is Will and Jada’s son. Im looking forward to how his music career plays out.
Billie Eilish was the most surprisingly good set. My friend’s gf really wanted to see her and we wanted a good spot for Earl, as well as being tired of walking so much. But yeah she’s going to be huge. Reminded me of Lorde tbh.
Earl was amazing. It was inspiring to see him so happy, through what he says is the toughest year of his life. The new stuff is thinking-man’s rap, as expected. He had a new track with Nak’el Smith that was a major banger. Then he ended his set by bringing out Rico Nasty. That was lit for real.
Made it over to vip during Post Malone. Lol. I really dont care too much for his music but he seems like a cool and grateful dude. He has a strong stage presence. I can see how he is the most sought after male artist of 2018.
Got a really close spot for Kids See Ghosts in vip. The GA side nearly cost us the show because they kept cramming up and wouldnt step back. Took the Fire Marshall speaking over the mic 4 times before they finally did. All the sudden a curtain rose up and we were on the brink of the show starting. Could barely see two figures walk into the box and within 3 minutes the curtain fell and Father Stretch My Hands started. Ye let us sing that one. They went into the KSG album in full as yall know. Some songs were on point but sometimes Ye forgot lyrics. Cudi was in great spirits and sounded awesome. Figured they’d do Welcome To Heartbreak but Paranoid and Pursuit were very nice surprises. Ghost Town was an epic closer. I did expect more energy from the crowd though. Idk, the show was good enough. Not the best of the weekend or even the day for me.
