If an act or artist played at least two live public shows they are eligible.
Elton John & Billy Joel have toured together, performing both solo and together during their sets. The question is, are they an act or is this an example of two solo artists performing together?

We allowed Elton John and leon Russel and also Snoop and Dr Dre. They performed together for their shows. They would do a few songs together, then Elton would do some of his and then billy would do some of his and then they'd share the stage again at the end of the show. According to the rules this is an eligible pick
I'm voting no based on someone losing Eminem and Rhianna earlier. It would be pretty shitty to have him lose them and then have someone else keep Elton and Billy.
Elton and Leon Russel recorded and album together and toured support it.
Nobody challenged Snoop and Dre. (But they probably should have.)

I don’t get how two people sharing the stage at the same time isn’t one act. It’s not like they’re playing their own sets back to back or playing them at the exact same time without acknowledging each other.
It's not like the following conversation has ever happened:
Person 1: What's you favorite musical act?
Person 2: Elton John and Billy Joel.
Person 2 could answer Elton John or Billy Joel and it would be plausible, especially if they were over fifty, but nobody would ever answer both together because they're not an act. There was no creation of music, just a thing that happened to sell some tickets.
It's not like the following conversation has ever happened:

Person 2 could answer Elton John or Billy Joel and it would be plausible, especially if they were over fifty, but nobody would ever answer both together because they're not an act. There was no creation of music, just a thing that happened to sell some tickets.
You could say that literally any tour ever happened just to sell tickets. If you asked what someone’s favorite live act was, Joel and John would be a valid answer. We aren’t drafting based on creation of music; the same way we don’t draft artists who never performed.

Again, my argument is that they are not an act but two individual acts.
If Eminem and Rihanna were voted by the group as not an act then Billy Joel and Elton John should also not be. (I think I voted in favor of Eminem and Rihanna, btw. It just seems unfair to take the pick away from one and allow the same situation for a different participant.)
This was true before. Eminem and Rihanna was polled after Bey and Jay was accepted. And this was polled after Rihanna and Eminem was rejected.
I get that. That goes back to the argument that recording an album and touring to support it makes them an act, though.
Well, we can put that to bed. I imagine Ri and Em have more material together than Elton and Joel. Sucks that that didn't pass. I think that was a mistake, but I'm glad we're not repeating the mistake.
