Yeah, I can't believe I am going to defend 21P, but the crappy attendance for 2017 wasn't really their fault. It was their 3rd time there in five years and the lineup had basically nothing exciting about it overall.
Goldenvoice taking over full booking then turning around and having a non critically acclaimed band from a genre of music that is decreasing in popularity headline doesnt seem like their MO at all.

i thought gv had been booking and red frog ran the actual event (security, vendors, etc)

Not sure how it worked in previous years, but that article that came out when it was announced that Firefly was bought out mentioned that there is a new person booking the lineup.
Who knows how that will impact the lineup but I'm going to try to be optimistic.

also look at some of the venues on Russ's tour. He's playing multiple 10k+ venues, including Staples.
Id also suggest to go look how those shows are selling
Yeah some of them aren't great, but they aren't terrible either. You could see him for $30 in some places but also it's at least $50 back of the arena in a lot of others, which is about where I'd expect him to be. I still think he's billed higher than some people here think.

Firefly has never shared headliners with RW though so it’s pretty much safe to assume they are out. TOP is already out with Dates during Firefly weekend
Blur | Arcade Fire | Swedish House Mafia
Not true. Arctic Monkeys and The Killers in 2018, and Florence in 2016.

Whoops, totally forgot about this year and clearly didn’t look hard enough for 16’. I’d be ok with not sharing the headliners they’ve booked so far though.
Coldplay - Green Day - J. Cole - Swedish House Mafia

You know, I might be in the minority but Coldplay has been a band I've been wanting to see on my "band bucketlist". I'd be perfectly fine if they headlined. I feel like I've seen a majority of the alt rock - rock band headliners touring still.

Dont think they are playing live shows any time soon, and they may or may not be done for good if Chris Martin is to be believed

Same. Shameless Coldplay defender and they're on my bucket list. Would much rather see them in a field at a fest like Firefly than trek to a football stadium. Think they're done for a while though.
Green Day is probably the band yet to play that above all fits the Firefly mold like a glove. Seems they are really particular about playing USA festivals this decade though.

Coldplay are much better in a stadium/arena because it allows you to see the lighted wristbands in the crowd fully which is a great sight. I was surprised they even brought those to Glasto but I don’t think they would come to Firefly with the runway and wristbands.

had the wristbands at 2016 Made in America
Oh didn’t know that, but I can’t imagine it’s cheap. Either way, they’re done with this tour

heard a far-fetched rumor they'll tour in North America in 2021
Makes sense. Guy said that would be taking a year off with no writing or recording after their last show, which was almost a year ago. He also stated that they will begin the writing process next year -- probably in January/February. There was also a rumor going around that they could be playing the Rock in Rio festival in Brazil next year, so they may be willing to do a few festivals here or there.
