this. in fact i’d go as far as to say that bk steel is an amazing venue, and t5 is an actively terrible one
This is true. But, you can have a good time at Terminal 5. The key is to get there very early and stake out a spot toward the front of the floor or on the rail of the second floor balcony. I did that for an LCD Soundsystem show last year and ended up enjoying myself far more than I had at any T5 show in, like, a decade.
Thing is, I'm gonna fly up for New York Film Festival
"Getting there super early" probably isn't happening.

Cool venue as well, though we had a lot of people pushing their way to the front. The way to get in is pretty long, as it is in the middle of nowhere. I would definitely come back. The long, narrow room reminded me of Printworks in London.
Friends and I each took a little mushroom chocolate, the lights were blowing my mind.
Are T5 and Brooklyn Steel good venues? I'm planning on heading up for NYFF and I might fit in Atarashii Gakko or FIDLAR that week
People hate on T5 and I’m sure it’s for good reason, but I’ve had a good time at all 3 shows I’ve been there. Just annoying to get to from Bk.
My problem with T5 is that it's a room that hold 3000 people yet it's NOT setup for 3000 people to view the stage. If you get there late, it's almost impossible to get a decent vantage point. Similar problem, but to a lesser degree, with Irving Plaza as if you're late you're often caught under that overhang in the back.
Brooklyn Steel is great because it's nice and wide so everyone can see coupled with good sound.
Not to be an entitled New Yorker but....why don't WE get an Interpol 20 year Antics show?
I was wondering the same thing, but maybe they are planning something here but can't announce it yet. Seems strange if not, since they originated here!

I was hoping to make it work, but sadly I am not going to be able to go see Beck and the Orchestra of St. Luke's at Carnegie Hall tomorrow, so if anyone is convenient to DT Brooklyn (near all the subways - QBR2345ACGF - and lots of buses) and can pick up a hard ticket for Sec 20 front row in the Second tier, I am letting it go for less than face (was thinking $75 - orig. $118 incl fees). So much for being nostalgic and opting for a hard ticket over electronic.

I went last night. It was pretty incredible. Hope it’s not a serious situation why you can’t go. If it’s just a logistical pain in the ass to get there you should definitely go. You won’t regret it.

I had a procedure to remove kidney stones last week, and they thought I might be able to go, but the stent they put in til Thursday is an irritating pain when I am moving around a lot so I am trying to avoid that.

Ugh!!! That sucks! Sorry to hear that. Hope ya feel better soon.
yeah, i wonder if this is another new one or they got bad news on the one that came up like last spring. would be real bummed if they had to stop. it drives me absolutely nuts that people move to a neighborhood with a large, established outdoor venue and bitch about it

I have a couple friends with families who live in FH, but all of them are artists who moved to the city after college. The real FH "mafia" are the old timers and people who have never left that part of Queens their entire lives. There is a very racist, elitist stronghold in that neighborhood that is very conservative. A lot the residents feel as if they've bought the right to have a suburb in NYC, and hate when there are transient visitors.

To be fair, Greenwich is probably out of reach financially for most people but the point still stands haha.

one of my friends’ exes was absurdly wealthy and from there so it was more of a joke. i know it as being a city that a lot of bigwigs who work in NYC move and settle down in

Oh I definitely got the joke. I grew up in both New Canaan and Darien which are both "Bigwigs who work in NYC live here" towns so I totally understand the prestige of it.
