I need to give songs of praise another listen. Right now I’m leaning towards the new Bahamas album.
I remember listening to Bahamas is Afie before Bonnaroo in 2015 and thought about seeing him for a minute, didn't end up catching him though. Listened to his newest album after not listening to him since then and thought most of the songs were really boring, I couldn't remember why I considered seeing him.

It’s definitely a different sound from a lot of their older stuff. I saw them at firefly 2015 and thought they put on a good show. I can definitely see how you would think it’s boring though.

This Tune Yards album is pretty good, but the singer's voice kind of annoys me for some reason. Khruangbin is leading the month for me. Is the deadline tomorrow?
Shame - Songs of Praise Strong honorable mention goes to Freedom's Goblin, but I can't stop listening to this album. It's heavy when it's called for, it's post-punky when it's called for, it's sadly anthemic when it's called for. What a way to start the year off.
Idk if it's possible but can someone change the first page of this topic to when album's come out every month. January is over, so now starts February and those who are releasing an album this month get added to the first page so by the end of the year it's easy to find which record you might have missed. Last year those posts were kinda all over the place, idk just a thought.

Couldn’t we just add spoilers to previous months when the op is updated?

I think it's interesting you guys don't like Merrill Garbus's voice. It's often my favorite part of a lot of the songs. A lot of what I liked less about the new album was the lyrics - I know tune-yards has always walked a fine line of political ambiguity, but songs like "Colonizer" are just a bit too on the nose (which is sad, because musically that particular song is probably the best on the album).

I actually really like Tune-Yards. This album just didn’t resonate with me. It’s sad because all of them have in the past.

i would not say there has been much fine line walking tbh

Fair enough. I guess I think of a song like "My Country" and don't think there's many like it on the new album. (though I think you're right in that there's always a "Gangsta" for every song like that).
