I'm 29 and don't really know anyone who still listens to Mumford or would be excited to see them headline next year. So if I'm the target Mumford demographic, that's probably not a good sign for their festival headlining longevity.

I know plenty of people age 19-24 into Mumford, they draw huge crowds wherever the play, I don't know how that's a debate. I don't know if it would necessarily generate ticket sales as they are usually easy to see, but if they were booked, they do play that shitty non-offensive rock that would draw a crowd. Lets face it, once a lot of the people that go to this thing get inside they are just looking to hear something they are familiar with.

I don't think they'd be booked unless they had a new album with a single people actually enjoyed. Is the Weeknd the only headliner Coachella had a year after them? That was kind of a different deal if so since he had new music in the pipeline.

I don't know if this answers the question you asked, but in 5 of the 7 two-weekend years Coachella has had a "leftover" headliner from the previous Big 4's festival season. That's why I would feel pretty strongly about Arctic Monkeys, Childish Gambino, or Travis Scott being the "third headliner" with some combination of new blood and legacy acts being other two. Also, not unprecedented to take two from the same festival, so if headliners are, say, Rihanna / Metallica / Childish Gambino (two from ACL) I wouldn't be shocked.

I don't know what you're doin there but I meant headliners they've shared with Voodoo the year after Voodoo had them.....

Oh I thought you meant more broadly how often does Coachella get headliners from the previous festival year. And to your point, with The Weeknd playing Voodoo in '17, almost every year they get a headliner from the previous festival year. Florence, AM, Gambino seem like best bets
Is Rihanna like the only female headliner people can come up with so we are seeing her in all these mocks? I feel like we are forcing her into that spot if nothing else.

I was just trying to think of something in the pop/hip-hop sphere that would complement Chance.
The fact that she has a vagina and has yet to get into the festival fray are factors that I think would make her attractive to Coachella

I get what you’re saying. I mean she makes sense. She just makes too much sense, I guess. I don’t know if they’ll book her just for the sake of having a woman headline when it mostly seems like these things occur case by case/year by year. I just don’t necessarily think that the Rock Band - Rapper - Woman formula is set in stone.
I suppose Florence seems the most likely since she fits two of those categories herself. The next Sia album should get her there and imo Taylor Swift could pull it off. The headliner pool for women (while sad and unfortunate) is just small though. There are, however, plenty of women capable of holding sub spots that could fill the void of a big name.
