Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
1. Kanye West @ Phillips Arena- as @radiatebased said, holy shit. Arguably the best show I have ever seen in my life. From seeing Yeezy so close to the innovative stage design to the dance party under the stage, it was truly amazing. So pumped for round 2 in December and that show could even top this one.
2. Radiohead @ Osheaga- I waited five hours (more than any set I've ever waited for) and it was so worth it. They came out 30 minutes early due to Disclosure not making it and thank fuck they didn't make it.
3. My Morning Jacket @ Shaky Knees- This was my first time seeing MMJ and probably the best place to see them at. I actually skipped prom for this set and in any other year this would probably be the #1 show.
4. Coldplay @ Wembley Stadium- I love Coldplay and especially their live shows. I found out about this when I was in England and two days before the show. They packed the place out for the fourth night but Chris Martin's stage presence and their production never seizes to amaze me. Plus, they still have the light up wristbands!
5. LCD Soundsystem @ Bonnaroo- Whoever did the mixing for this deserves a fucking medal. The best sounding show I've ever been to. Unfortunately for me I walked out about halfway through from the rail in front of the pit because I was so fucking hungry. Watched the rest from a far but got a great view of everything still, including the fireworks.
6. Bloc Party @ Osheaga- This was the second time I saw them this year and both times I had the best spots possible. Both were fantastic, but this time I touched Kele so it wins.
7. Father John Misty @ Bonnaroo- This was the second to last act I saw at Roo and it was the second best by a fairly close margin. I always had a good view and FJM has great presence.
8. Alabama Shakes @ Music Midtown- I love Brittany with all my heart and she and the rest brought it. They won Music Midtown for me and even topped their 2014 Shaky set.
9. Beck @ Music Midtown- I was front and center for Beck and he was everything I expected him to be: super lame but cool.
10. Cage the Elephant @ Infinite Energy Arena- Portugal. the Man was fairly lackluster but Cage is always super into it. I was not at all a fan of their new album but it translated live really well. The last time I saw them, I nearly died crowdsurfing. This time, I nailed it.
HM- Pearl Jam @ Bonnaroo, Florence @ SK, The Killers @ MM, Prophets of Rage @ Verizon Amphitheater, Two Door Cinema Club @ Bonnaroo, Vulfpeck @ Bonnaroo
Every year for the past few years I think I've had the best year of live shows I'll ever have, but I will be really surprised if I ever top this year. Roger Waters might help next year though.
I'll bring this over from the Hangout thread. With Voodoo, Day For Night and Pretty Lights NYE run (and Tauk as well as Animal Collective upcoming, it's going to change.
I haven't hit that moment yet to be able to figure it out. This will change with 2 more festivals to attend and a bunch of shows including Pretty Lights NYE run. F. this is going to be hard. I'm going to skip multiple versions of the same band as obviously Tool in Pensacola and New Orleans would qualify.
1. Neil Young & Promise of the Real Jazz Fest (includes 30+ minutes Cortez the Killer) 2. Tool Pensacola Bay Center (Birthday Tool Show = Money) 3. Primus New Orleans Smoothie King Center (too bad I missed most of the show the night before. This was great) 4. Deftones New Orleans @ Orpheum Theatre 5. Pearl Jam Jazz Fest 6. STS9 @ Euphoria 7. Kraftwerk in 3-D New Orleans @ Orpheum Theatre 8. Pretty Lights Live Band Buku Fest 9. Explosions in the Sky New Orleans @ The Joy Cinema 10. Juicy J @ Euphoria Fest
HM: George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic @ Bear Creek Bayou Festival Tycho @ Euphoria GRiZ @ Euphoria Arlo Guthrie's 50th Anniversary of Alice's Restaurant at Jazzfest My Morning Jacket at Jazz Fest Red Hot Chili Peppers @ Jazz Fest GRiZ/Break Science/Lettuce/Mystikal Buku Afterparty Superjam Fly Boi Keno/Mystikal/Juvenile @ Buku Fest About 7 Lettuce Shows (particularly Night 1 at Euphoria)

Let's see if I can remember everything this year.
-Kanye West in Tampa -Broken Social Scene in Chicago (2x) -Beyoncé in Tampa -Maceo Plex during Miami Music Week -KiNK during MMW -Four Tet at Movement -The Black Madonna at Movement -Caribou at Movement -K-Hand at Movement Nina Kraviz afterparty -Brian Wilson at Pitchfork -FKA twigs at Pitchfork -Leon Vynehall at III Points -Flying Lotus at III Points -DJ Koze at III Points -Ben UFO at III Points
Likely to change given I have Voodoo this weekend and Day For Night in December:
1. Phish - 9/4/16 - Dick's Sporting Goods Park - Denver, CO: Again Phish takes the top spot, though it is possible something at Day For Night will end up replacing it. The second set was grade A+, Crosseyed & Painless > Steam > Piper > Light > The Lizards, First Tube. In my experience Phish crowds at Dick's are locked in and attentive but still pretty chill, but during this set the crowd was apeshit bananas.
2. Kraftwerk 3-D - 9/9/16 - Orpheum Theatre - New Orleans, LA: What can I say, the show itself was fantastic, great visuals, great music, and it was my first time seeing these legends that pioneered electronic music.
3. Guns N Roses - 7/31/16 - Superdome - New Orleans, LA: I've been a fan of GNR since I was 12 years old in the early 90s, and never thought they would reunite, and even after the reunion was announced I assumed the show would be a hot mess. Couldn't have been further from the truth. Axl was amazing and the band started on time. In fact, as far as aging rockers voices, it's hard to think of somebody who sounds better than Axl aside from Bruce Dickinson of Iron Maiden. Seeing Axl and Slash doing November Rain next to each other was a remarkably emotional live music experience. GNR and Axl have caught a lot of shit over the years, but IMO they wrote some of the ballsiest and best rock and roll singles of all time.
4. LCD Soundsystem - 6/10/16 - Bonnaroo: Can't add much that hasn't already been said. Beautiful sound, best I've heard at a festival, killer setlist. The crowd was intimate for a What stage show but high energy and enthusiastic.
5. Jason Isbell - 6/12/16 - Bonnaroo: I saw Isbell when he was with the Truckers but this was my first time seeing him solo. I have a strong connection to his music, and think he is one of the finest songwriters alive today, regardless of genre. Very emotional set for me, in the blazing afternoon heat of the What field.
So with several shows and Day for Night on the horizon, I stand at:
1. Neil Young & POTR Jazzfest 2. Tool Pensacola Bay Center (or NOLA) 3. Claypool/Lennon Voodoo Fest 4. Primus Smoothie King Center 5. Puscifer Voodoo Fest 6. Deftones The Orpheum 7. Pearl jam Jazz Fest 8. STS9 Euphoria 9. Kraftwerk 3D The Orpheum 10. Pretty Lights Live Band Buku Fest
This puts Explosions in the sky at TheJoy and Juicy J at Euphoria into HM. I'd add Reignwolf at Voodoo also but it's as arguably as good and chaotic as anything this year (HM also P'Funk, Tycho, Griz (Euphoria), Arlo Guthrie, MMJ Jazfest, RHCP Jazz Fest, Buku Superjam, Fly Boi Keno/Juvy/Mystikal, and many Lettuce shows.
I still fucking HATE this name change. I refuse to call it that.
This has been a light year for me too, but what I have seen so far has been fantastic. I'm seeing Adele and Sia this weekend, and possibly doing a day of Sound On Sound, so I will come back and update this after that (bc I'm sure Adele is going to make my top 10 list for the year).

It sounds so dirty. The LC comes off the tongue better too.
1. Phish - Dick's - Commerce City, CO: Best live music experience of the year so far. Two killer jam heavy crazy sets with a great crowd in a great venue, capped off with "The Lizards", which I hadn't heard live in 4 years / 22 shows. Whenever I think I'm starting to get jaded with the whole Phish thing, or even the whole live music thing, a night like this happens. Music is magic.
2. Kraftwerk 3D - Orpheum Theatre - New Orleans, LA
3. Guns N' Roses - Superdome - New Orleans, LA
4. Jason Isbell - Bonnaroo
5. LCD Soundsystem - Bonnaroo
6. Weird Al Yankovic - Saenger Theatre - Mobile, AL
I anticipate some shows at Day For Night will make the list. Aphex Twin? Butthole Surfers?
A couple more left this year, but here's where I'm at
Concerts: 1. Glen Hansard - Carnegie Hall - New York, NY 2. Courtney Barnett - Rough Trade - Brooklyn, NY 3. Dead & Company - Fenway Park - Boston, MA 4. Pond - Music Hall of Williamsburg - Brooklyn, NY 5. Sigur Rós - King's Theatre - Brooklyn, NY 6. The Complete Last Waltz - Capitol Theatre - Port Chester, NY 7. Father John Misty - House of Blues - Boston, MA 8. Glass Animals - Terminal 5 - New York, NY 9. Vulfpeck - Central Park SummerStage - New York, NY 10. I anticipate some shows at Day For Night will make the list. Aphex Twin? Butthole Surfers?
1. Prince @ Sydney Opera House, February 20th (late show)
Well, this was far and away the greatest concert I’ve ever witnessed. I was already saying that as I left the venue, but the fact that he died just two months later has made it all the more special. It was jazzy, it was sassy, soulful, sombre and sexy. It was Prince, and only Prince, with only his voice and a piano, in my favourite venue, in fantastic seats, making great friends. I feel extraordinarily fortunate to have experienced this.
2. The Cure @ Allphones Arena, July 25th
Marathon three-hour set. I can't think of anything they didn't play. They were so good! Venue staff were significantly less competent… which worked in my favour, because I was able to sneak from the nosebleeds to the loge. I was wearing an official-looking coat imbued with wizardly powers, waltzed down like I owned the place, and danced ’til I could dance no more.
3. New Order & the Australian Chamber Orchestra @ Sydney Opera House, June 2nd
Monie ’s first Opera House show! There were a few sound issues with the orchestra in the first half of the show, but it was still a great concert. And they played Decades for the first time since Ian died. B|
4. Morrissey @ WIN Entertainment Centre (Wollongong), October 29th
I got a How Soon Is Now… I was a happy chappy. Even though Moz had to stop a song, when there was a fight after some idiot in the crowd started joking about horse racing. A GA venue was the way to see him. He has too much of a dance-y sound to not want to move around.
5. Brian Wilson performing Pet Sounds @ Sydney Opera House, March 29th
I went with my mum (awww). We were side stage in the front row, and the band sounded just great. Good vibrations indeed.
6. M83 @ Enmore Theatre, May 16th
I’d had some super hectic life shit happen about a week and a half before, and I really needed this as a release. I cried through much the show.
7. Tweedy @ Factory Theatre, March 22nd
Jeff / Wilco doesn’t tour here nearly as often as in the US, naturally, but he made up for it with a long and creative setlist. We had a good bit of banter mid-show. How I miss his sass.
8. Glen Hansard @ Sydney Opera House, October 22nd
Front row! Sing softly to me, you fluffety-locked raconteur!
9. John Digweed @ Kingdom (Austin, TX), September 4th
It’s obvious why John Digweed is such a master of his genre. It was dark and dirty and simply wonderful. My first proper show in Austin, and a really cool venue too… cool for the crowd and the go-go dancers, that is. The place still felt like a steam room.
10. The Laurels @ Gizzfest, Luna Park, November 29th
For those who don’t know, this is Ambrose from King Gizz (keys, harmonica) side project - except he sings and plays guitar here. I’ve seen them a bunch of times, but this was an entirely new show, and what a show it is. They’re clearly amping up to make splashes on the international festival circuit the same way Gizz did a couple years ago.
Beyond that, Gizzfest itself is also gearing up to become a much bigger event. Last year was really just a concert with alternating stages on opposite ends of a ballroom. This was way more of a proper festival, and Luna Park was the PERFECT setting for it. Gorgeous Sydney Harbour views, right under the bridge, with free admission to all rides included in the ticket price? Yes please.
11. Modest Mouse @ Enmore Theatre, March 21st
Great setlist, even if they skipped Float On.
12. Pond @ Gizzfest, November 29th
13. Jason Isbell @ Enmore Theatre, April 3rd
Probably not a show I would have sought out on my own, but my friends were going and were able to get me a free ticket. His live show is way more high energy than I was expecting.
14. Polica @ Sydney Opera House (Joan Sutherland Theatre), June 3rd
15. Wu Tang Clan @ Hordern Pavillion, February 24th
Kind of feel like my list is super underwhelming since I'm posting after Cap'n Mac but I still was able to see some amazing shows this year. Three more left (The Districts, Twin Peaks, and Jesus and Mary Chain) but these are my favorites.
1. My Morning Jacket @ Shaky Knees - First time seeing them and I was absolutely blown away. Steam Engine > Purple Rain > State of the Art was just incredible. Left me speechless. 2. Tame Impala @ Bonnaroo - Say what you will about them not filling the entire two hour time slot, but I still had a blast. They're one of my favorite bands and seeing them live was everything I'd hoped for. 3. Ryan Adams @ Sloss Fest - This show had me ecstatic at some parts and super emotional at others. Seeing him turn Peaceful Valley and Magnolia Mountain into 10 minute jams was truly amazing. 4. At the Drive-In @ Shaky Knees - One of the most intense shows I've ever witnessed. Being front row was definitely a nice bonus. 5. Jim James @ The Tabernacle - Went into this unsure of how the new album would translate live. Left believing this man can do no wrong. 6. The Flaming Lips @ Sloss Fest - Seeing Wayne in a giant hamster ball covering Space Oddity was truly a sight to behold. 7. Dave Matthews and Tim Reynolds (Acoustic Set) @ Many Rivers to Cross - I did not expect this to make this list. That being said, I was stunned. My friend I went with said it was by far better than the DMB show he saw earlier this year. My only complaint was that it was only about an hour long. 8. Beck @ Music Midtown - I'm not sure whether the best part of this was how great Beck was or being nowhere near the shitshow that was twenty-one pilots. 9. Pearl Jam @ Bonnaroo - Not exactly the jaw-dropping 3 hour setlist I had hoped for but I love Pearl Jam and got to hear all the hits, so I can't really complain. 10. Father John Misty @ Bonnaroo - What a performer. Even in the 90 degree heat I loved every second of being in that pit.
HM: The Killers, Santana, The Kills, Ray Lamontagne, Mudcrutch, M83, Prophets of Rage
Next year is already off to a strong start with Shaky Knees, Roo, Roger Waters, Green Day. Plus RTJ to kick off the year.
Kind of feel like my list is super underwhelming since I'm posting after Cap'n Mac
Noooo, I love reading everyone's posts! The point isn't to win but to share stories, and you have several I'm quite jealous of. Ryan Adams is in town tonight and I'm bummed I couldn't go. I need a Jacket/Jim fix (no, not like the health guy), which is a very rare occurrence in these parts. I was upset to miss PJ @ Roo, and The Jesus and Mary Chain are a big bucket list act for me.
And if it makes you feel any better, my list was basically all the shows I saw this year. 2016 was my first year since 2007 without any multi-day festivals. I was just fortunate to have an extremely strong top end to my list this year.

1. My Morning Jacket - Red Rocks both nights. 2.Radiohead - Lollapalooza 3.LCD Soundsystem - Bonnaroo 4. My Morning Jacket - Lockn ( I know I have them on here twice but both those shows were just so incredible to me) 5. String Cheese Incident - Hulaween ( stringier things set) 6. Dead and Co.- Bonnaroo 7. Beck - Bloomington IN 8. Pearl Jam - Bonnaroo 9. Ween - Lockn night 1 10. Foals - Lollapalooza
Honorable mentions: Father John Misty-Bonnaroo, Phish- Lockn, Claypool and Lennon Delirium-Hulaween, Dr Dog-Indianapolis

I'm just impressed that you got to see so many of my bucket list artists in one year! Morrissey, New Order, The Cure, Brian Wilson, Pond, and Prince ( RIP ) are all artists I've really wanted to see. Hope MMJ/Jim James comes your way soon!
This year was definitely my lightest year on live music in at least 5 years. I only went to one festival (I suppose 2 if you count doing a single day of a fest...) This may also be the earliest in the year that I attended my last show (which was November 5th )
Anyways, 2016 top 10: 1) Adele (Frank Erwin Center / Austin, TX / Nov 4) I cried. A lot. Like, sobbed. I warned the girl I went with that I would ugly cry, and when I started she looked at me and said, "Man, you weren't kidding about crying were you?" She was wonderful. She sounded amazing, she was witty, she was charming, she had a glow about her, and it was everything I had waited nearly a full year to see.
2) Radiohead, (ACL / Austin, TX / Oct 8) First time Seeing RH and it was really, really great. We got a good spot in the crowd before FlyLo (which was a whole experience in and of itself) and posted up through the end of RH. The night was even more special since it was Thom's birthday, as well as FlyLo's. So to close, Thom played 'Fake Plastic Trees' because he said it was one of his favorites. It was a beautiful end to an amazing show, which I made evident with more tears.... The show was also made extra special thanks to Rothric being an awesome human being, and I'm super glad I got to spend that set with him and Tejas , and less so with the really creepy guy behind me who may or may not have been grabbing my ass the whole show. It was either him or his hat, the jury is still out.
jk, it was the hat. I was just too corned out to realize that and just switch spots with him to be next to Rothric and Tejas...
3) New Order w/ The Australian Chamber Orchestra (Sydney Opera House / Sydney, Australia / June 2) My first show at the SOH and the second year in a row that New Order had made the top half of my year end list. Just as amazing in an indoor setting and being a lot further than we were last time (which to be fair was like ~10ish rows back at a festival). The audience was slow to get into it at first, but once they played Bizarre Love Triangle about half way in people stood up and started dancing and didn't stop, much to the dismay of the guy behind us. It was fantastic. I'm not sure if I ever cried during the show, but I know I was on the brink a few times. Cap'n Mac definitely cried though, maybe more than once... no shame sweetheart. <3
4) Brand New (Austin 360 Amphitheater, Austin, TX / July 12) This was the tour double-billed as Brand New & Modest Mouse. I originally got the tickets just for Modest Mouse, but honestly Brand New was the highlight of the night for me, which was surprising. I've always loved Brand New but haven't really listened to them in several years, probably since around 2007 or so, maybe even earlier. But this show was so much and emotional for me, which really caught me off guard. They sounded fantastic and they put so much energy into the show, despite it being like 100000 degrees out that day and the stage facing the sun. And yes, I cried during this show too.
5) Tool (AT&T Center / San Antonio, TX / Jan 13) First time seeing Tool, and they didn't disappoint one bit. I was in the lower bowl, stage left and I had a great view of everything. Only regret is that I couldn't really, really "let loose" during the show because I had to drive home that night. I couldn't imagine seeing Tool in a festival setting, it would be insane.
6) The Cure (Frank Erwin Center / Austin, TX / May 13) I originally wasn't going to go to this show because it was so close to my departure for Sydney (I left May 15) and I was strapped financially and stressed out with school. But really, that was the reason I'm happiest I went. I bought a "partial view" ticket for like $25 the day before the show and I'm soooo happy I did. I had a great side view of the stage (similar to the view Sleepy had for Brian Wilson above me, but a bit higher up). I couldn't see the screens really, but I had a perfect view of the band. I started crying out of nowhere during 'Pictures of You' and it was just the release I needed. They fact that I have this show as #6 really says a lot about the shows I saw this year.
7) Kanye West (Frank Erwin Center / Austin, TX / Sept 21) Again, another show I wanted to attend from the day it was announced but ultimately nearly skipped (this was as common theme for me in 2016). Tickets went on sale towards the end of my time in Australia and I knew I was going to be roughing it financially when I got back so splurging on floor tickets for Kanye (which I literally had ready to check out on my phone before deciding against it) wasn't a realistic option for me. But like two days before the show I got $50 nosebleed tickets for myself as a birthday gift and I'm happy I did. I will say that not being on the floor and really immersed in the experience did leave something to be desired, but it's Kanye and it was still a blast. If I could do it again I'd have gotten that GA ticket when they went on sale and not looked back. If I had done that I think show would've easily been top a 3-5 show of the year.
8) Duran Duran (Austin 360 Amphitheater, Austin, TX, Apr 22) It was Duran Duran, it was fun and setlist was everything I could've hoped for. I cried during both Come Undone and Ordinary World.
9) Hot Chip (DJ Set) (Kingdom / Austin, TX / Jan 2) This was my first show of the year and it was was sooooooo much fun. What a great show to start the year off with. I hated that I had to work the next day and couldn't stay for the whole thing- even though I left at 3am. According to EAP they kept playing till around like 4am or later? Which was way later than what they scheduled to play, but the club owner pulled some strings and did what he needed to do to get them to keep playing
10) LCD Soundsystem (ACL / Austin, TX / Oct 10) I think my bar for LCD was set too high based on everyone raving about every set earlier in the year, either that or I was just tired and hungover from the weekend. But LCD for me was good, but not spectacular. I felt like it was missing that extra something to make the show amazing. Despite that, they still round out my top 10 because they sounded great and I had a good time dancing around.
HM: Big Boi, Britney Spears (yes, this was mostly for nostalgic reasons, but it was fantastic), Modest Mouse, Polica, John Digweed, Dr. Dog, Tiesto (also mostly just for fun factor)
1. LCD Soundsystem - Bonnaroo 2. Tame Impala - Bonnaroo 3. Jamie XX - Made in America 4. Dead & Co. - Bonnaroo 5. Ratatat - The Smellectric Factory 6. Collegrove - Made in America
Went to a lot of otherwise disappointing shows this year which is sad, but finally got to see a lot of bands that I had missed.
