Sufjan at Red Rocks was incredible! Way up there with one of the best shows I have ever seen, the set list was fantastic and it was a perfect night, with rainbows, a full moon, and lightning in the distance. I also actually got a little emotional when he played Fourth Of July and I was standing there with my mom. Great night!
Sufjan's Red Rocks show was one of the best concerts I've ever been to! The setlist was perfection, and the weather definitely made for some magical moments.
This Age of Adz show would make a perfect late night tent show!

I haven't listened to everything by Sufjan yet, but I'm really excited to see him on Saturday for the first time. I noticed in his two most recent festival sets he hasn't played Fourth of July, that was my favorite from his most recent album so I really hope he plays it. Kind of bummed I probably won't have the best spot for him, but I'm sure it'll be a great time nonetheless.
How'd you like the show? I was there too and thought it was incredible. Definitely the best of the weekend. Plus, he did end up playing Fourth of July!
It was probably my second favorite of the weekend, I loved it! I got there as Vesuvius was starting because I stayed for all of Anderson Paak (he was my groups most anticipated act of the festival, and his show was just a little better than Sufjan's for us). It was annoying that Anderson got delayed and didn't even start until right before 8:30 but what I saw of Sufjan was top notch. And you're right, right as he started playing Fourth of July I smiled and let out a happy squeal and my girlfriend goes oh this must be your song lol. I was not expecting "Kiss" either, that was such a nice surprise! I definitely need to catch him in the future again.

I didn't get to see Anderson .Paak at Pitchfork because I was camping for Sufjan. It would be the most Bonnaroo thing ever for Bonnaroo to book them both next year and have them conflict in LN.
And it'd probably be on the heels of Arcade Fire headlining too so I couldn't get a good spot for the one I end up choosing
Last post about the show then I'm done I promise. My dad described it as The Wiggles on acid for young adults mixed with Simon and Garfunkel and I thought that was the best description of that show I've ever heard
So I've worked for a festival in Des Moines the past 2 summers and the festival promoter told me that Sufjan's booking agent reached out to the festival to have him play. They ended up not booking him, but I thought this was interesting for a few reasons:
1. This means that Sufjan has definitely changed his stance on festivals. The festivals he's playing this year aren't due to the festival throwing money his way to make it happen. He's playing them and specifically reaching out to them because he wants to.
2. If his booking agent was reaching out to a mid-sized regional/local music festival in Des Moines, IA, I'd have to assume they would have also been contacting much larger festivals, perhaps one in Manchester, TN?
3. This potentially means that Bonnaroo was handed the opportunity to book an artist with one of the most critically acclaimed albums of last year, who is known for putting on fantastic live shows, and has up until recently been extremely hesitant to play festivals and said "no thanks, we're going to go with [Insert shitty artist here]."
The thing is though...they had nobody scheduled to play late night on the Which Stage Saturday night. You would think Sufjan would be perfect for that spot. Like they could have booked him without replacing any of the already existing artists on the lineup. So either the budget for booking artists was really so tight that they couldn't manage to add one more (who would have really helped the lineup) or maybe there was some unknown scheduling conflict with Roo....even though I don't think he had any shows that whole weekend. Maybe he had a radius clause with someone else? Anyways I'm glad to hear he's more open to festivals. Maybe there is a chance for Bonnaroo next year, or maybe Shaky Knees will steal him away.

The show at Wolf Trap in Virginia was the closest to Bonnaroo this year. Seems like a bigass radius clause if that's what prevented Roo from booking him.
Oh, and despite the shorter set length, Sufjan at Panorama was ten times better than Sufjan at Boston Calling (which was already great).

Oh good instead of hard conflicts we have no conflicts
Someone played impossible soul on the jukebox of a bar I was at the other night and I wasn't mad. That's someone who really knows how to stretch a dollar.
