We're all a mess of paradoxes. Believing in things we know can't be true. We walk around carrying feelings too complicated and contradictory to express. But when it all becomes too big, and words aren't enough to help get it all out, there's always music.
Ian McDonald, co-founding sax and flute player for King Crimson (In the Court of the Crimson King, In the Wake of Poseidon and a guest spot on Red) and then the first 3 and only semi-decent Foreigner albums died at 75 in NYC.
Think of those hard sax bars in 21st Century Schizoid Man. That’s Ian. RIP. And that flute in I talk to the Wind.
Definitely disagreed with a lot of his premises (anti-social programs, very Libertarian) but I read some of his stuff when I leaned more that way (like, in middle school) and remember him being pretty funny.
This left a BIG impression on me:
"A hat should be taken off when you greet a lady and left off for the rest of your life. Nothing looks more stupid than a hat."

I didn't follow him much outside of Wait Wait but he was enjoyable enough on the show. He was older than I though. RIP.

Parliament of Whores was huge for me in high school. Same as you ultimately my politics didn't align with his but he was hilarious.
