Maybe a dumb question, but I drove by the area this morning and wondered... do they cover up the fountains and shit in the park for this fest? Or is it a feature to be able to splash around?
I think you’re underrating it. Hot Chip, Kaytranada, Polo & Pan, friendly fires, ross from friends, yaeji, hawtin, objekt, Dr Rubenstein(!!!!), and 999999999 is a pretty great grouping of acts.
Or maybe I’m just underrating what San Diego frat bros like.
Kaytranada has played roughly the same set for about 4 years ago. Hot Chip is good. Polo&Pan/Friendly Fires i just dont care about. Ross From Friends isn't bad live. Richie has been boring as hell each time I've seen em, not a Yaeji fan cuz of the vocals. I think Objekt and Dr. Rubenstein are great bookings tho. Reinforces my original point. Theres like 2 exceptionally great gets a year.

CRSSD usually has just enough to justify the fairly-inexpensive ticket price and fantastic location. I've never seen Hot Chip, Objekt is one of the best DJs in the world, I've never seen 999999999 or Dr. Rubenstein, and Derrick Carter b2b Mark Farina will be a cool set. Fill it out with some acts that are solid but not world beaters (this go round: Friendly Fires, Polo & Pan, Ross From Friends, Tiger & Woods, and I'll see whichever of Richie or Amelie doesn't conflict with Hot Chip). Combine that with a $150 weekend pass and dancing in the sun with friends, and it's totally worthwhile. YMMV, though.

I get that. Not worth traveling for I feel like and then if you already live in so cal theres usually a better act playing just at some underground promotion in LA. But yeah it is crazy cheap which is nice
Phase I Lineup tomorrow. I fully expect one of the Sunday Ocean View headliner to be Rufus du Sol since they are playing M3F in Phoenix on that Saturday.
From reddit: headliners are Geseffalstein, Rufus, and Carl Cox.
Others are Soulwax, Chris Lake, Nora En Pure, 2manydjs
prob got a nice deal on Gesaffalstein considering past history and the recent show, just kinda odd considering how undersold i'm guessing that show was. they were pushing that HARD, and there were tons of ticket giveaways.

I've only been to one show at the park at petco but it didn't seem that under sold to me. I don't have much to compare it to though, and it was really roomy behind the sound board of the right.
