For anyone into indie pop, check out Boston's Axel & Lolo, whom I wanted to see but managed to miss three times earlier this year at various free shows and festivals featuring local artists.
I finally saw them today at the Boston Book Festival Copley Square stage, and they know how to write a melody.
Justice is allegedly coming back in the spring to play more A markets and some B markets. I'm really hoping for either a Richmond date at Allianz or a MPP show 🙏
For anyone who's had Elvis Costello on their bucket list, there are six single seat tickets remaining (as of this moment) to his Sat 3/1 show at the 850-seat Cabot in Beverly. It's a duo format with his long-time pianist/keyboard player Steve Nieve. They did a bunch of duo tours in the 90's and the shows were outstanding, especially if you'd rather here deep cuts than the 5-10 songs he seems to play at almost every show with the Imposters. After 40 shows in 45+ years, I never need to hear Pump It Up, Watching The Detectives, What's So Funny, Everyday I Write The Book, or Alison again in his live shows.
The show start time (and lack of an opener, fingers crossed), proximity to the rail station, and train schedule actually make this doable for me. (Just to be on the safe side, I'll finally download Uber before the show and try out the service ahead of time. It's likely going to be too cold on March 1 to spend the night on the streets of Beverly, a city that's way too small to have an all-night diner where I can sit and drink coffee for hours.)
