Whether it's your first Bonnaroo or you’re a music festival veteran, we welcome you to Inforoo.
Here you'll find info about artists, rumors, camping tips, and the infamous Roo Clues. Have a look around then create an account and join in the fun. See you at Bonnaroo!!
Haven't the roo clues been progressively increasing in popularity (except the bonus clue) as they did last year? That doesnt support All Them Witches.
They varied slightly last year but certainly ended with a string of popular bands. There is no real pattern when you look over the years. I don't expect this year to have a strait upwards pattern either. It does look like they are going for bigger names overall.
I don't think preachers of a dark act is obscure at all to get to witchcraft. It's a pretty easy connection to a "dark religion". Whether that be witchcraft or satanic reference
Okay, but compare that to them just picking Jason Isbell song names for the clue. Why would a clue for a band that plays bars be this extensive?
Dopapod was the lowest billed act(#92) and also one of the harder clues last year. Partly because they weren't that well known outside of Northeastern jam scene. At least that's my understanding.
But I do mostly agree with you. This year's have been much easier and none of the "solved" bands so far have been on the level of ATWs.
FJM seems to be definitively ruled out. They are not going to use John in the clue if it's also in the answer. That's like Clues 101.
Yeah, I would assume for FJM, they would say Joshua. It would still be biblical enough a name to fit the clue, but you'd have to do at least a minimum amount of work to get from Joshua Tillman to FJM.
Guys I really think it's Judas Priest. Judas betrays Jesus in the Gospel according to John. John the apostle would certainly not approve of a priest who preaches about Judas. Also Judas Priest are not too big for a tent in the US.
Judas Priest is next year's Slayer. LN tent, done.
EDIT: And stop it with the Father John Misty. They're not putting the guy's name in the clue and it says preacherS, plural. Hey may still be there but he is not this clue. All Them Witches is a reasonable guess though.
I know metal is a niche genre but Judas Priest would be a big get. Probably LN tent but they might be big enough for LN Which
I'd be surprised if the metal/hard rock crowds at Bonnaroo were ever too big for a tent...Slayer didn't exactly draw the biggest crowd to their tent, although that may have been for the last minute schedule change. But I think Judas Priest would be in a LN tent and would be fine if they're going up against, say, LCD and two EDM/rap tents. People seem to think they'd draw a crowd like they do in Europe where they and the genre as a whole are WAY bigger than in the U.S.
I'm probably switching to Judas Priest as well. You guys are probably right about ATW regarding their obscurity. And I was kind of thinking Judas Priest would be a little too big, and they're definitely bigger than slayer, but if they put them up against enough conflicts, a tent makes sense.
And while I probably won't end up seeing their set, this is a really cool get if it turns out to be true
Rob Halford said Judas Priest are going to work on a new album early next year. I don't know if this hurts or helps their chances of being at Roo, but either way they will have a new album to tour for at some point.
Judas Priest miiiiiight fill a LN Tent at Bonnaroo.
Judas Preist headlined FFF Fest 2014 in ATX and drew a huge crowd despite competing with Alt-J and 2Chainz. Granted, FFF fest is significantly smaller as a whole. Still, I wouldn't underestimate how big it'd be for Roo to get Judas Priest, as well as the bands ability to draw a crowd.

Is the Judas betrayal story only in the gospel of John? Not the other gospels?

I'm no bible scholar or anything but I do know that john's gospel is the most famous account of Judas and the one with the infamous "kiss of Judas." Not sure how prominent it is in the other gospels.

Yeah but if you look at FFF 2014, Modest Mouse and Nas were the next big headliners. The point of funfunfun fest is to NOT have huge headliners. Slayer has been the overall #1 act at FFF before and they were LN tent at roo.

Exactly, comparing them to the other headliners that year (Nas, Death Cab) they're like, 8th on the Roo lineup at best and most likely somewhere from 11-15. Definitely would be fine in a tent.

What? The kiss is important in every book except John, where it's not even mentioned in the context we think of it today. I don't even know were you are getting "the most famous account" part.
Nobody has made a compelling reason for why John is mentioned. No shit he wouldn't approve of Judus' actions. So would millions of other Christians. There has to be a more specific reason for half the clue to refer to a person named John. It's likely something more modern, seeing as people clearly don't do well with biblical references.
