Well I just loved that.
Everyone brought their A game. Host/music nice surprise. The end tribute brought me to tears, didn't even know who the guy was but it was really good.
I do feel like this happening worked out well with a good chunk of the cast being YouTube ready. Kate can carry a set, Beck/Mooney started out on YouTube, finally got a banger feature with Chloe doing impersonations, update was smooth (aside from I'm guessing scarjo laughing too much), ninja turtles was fantastic, Pete doing a couple songs. Zoom meeting was good wonky SNL group bit.
And instead of saying all of your goodbyes - let them know you realize that life goes fast - It's hard to make the good things last-you realize the sun doesn't go down - It's just an illusion caused by the world spinning round
i really enjoyed it. obviously i have an emotional connection to SNL so i was just happy to see comedians i like doing sketch comedy. great choice asking tom hanks to "host". genuinely enjoyed the chris marten musical performance, love how he setup his space to be a little reminiscent of the SNL musical stage. the opening credits with everybody at home were great. nice to see chloe fineman shining even if i didn't know who any of her impressions were. the sky sports sketch was legitimately charming.
the best joke of the night was che using his grandmother's death to con colin into doing joke swap. genuinely hilarious and awful and somehow touching at the same time.
both of pete's songs were hilarious and well done considering pete's mom was the director.
i did not know who hal wilner was but what a great tribute, he seemed like a hell of a guy.
credits on the empty stage were appropriate and haunting.
