The entire city of New Orleans was bored on Saturday night. Literally nothing happened all night. We got one or two brief bands of rain a few hours before Nate made landfall but then nothing else. Not even any wind.
Yesterday it was no wind and blue sunny skies all day.

I was coming to write something similar, but I want to add, those to our east got tons of wind and water. Hoping all those in MS and AL are doing OK.

Okay so i'm from Arkansas, and what bugs me the most, I mean like drives me crazy is that it could be soooooo sunny and start snowing. Like how does that work? does the snow just think "oh i'm gonna defy all laws of physics and fall"?

You made an account here just to bitch about the weather?
And yes, that is EXACTLY what snow thinks. How can I fuck up this dude from Arkansas' day.

Well then looks like i'm moving to the Bahamas! Got a passport I can borrow?
They are super old and it is a money, political, corruption and laziness thing. There was money allocated after Katrina from FEMA that they either spent on something else or that they are sitting on. They have said that to fix/replace it would cost billions of dollars and blah, blah, blah. They don't care about us here, they are too worried about lining their own pockets and doing the least amount of work as possible. The system is so broken here that it doesn't matter who is in charge, they get sucked into the corruption that is the NOLA government.
Billions my ass. The infastructure for the pumps is already there. The actual devices just need to be repaired/replaced from my understanding. And I dont think its just NOLA political corruption,as much as I think its just part of the state. With the amount of industry that lines Louisiana down I10 theres no reason that the entire state isnt in as good of shape across the board as Texas. Education is in absolute shambles, roads suck, local taxes blow, and the state blows. Being in a state thats not Louisiana, I feel like I was absolutely robbed of a good education.

Thats really interesting. Im going to look up some more on them. The thing that I dont understand is the amount of work it would take to convert from 24hz to 60hz motors. I mean, thats the only part of the system that should would be affected by the freqyency of the power being delievered to it? I guess at tgat point They would need to be regeared in order to run slower?
Either way, with the size of pumps Ive seen in industrial uses its kind of hard to believe they couldnt be replaced. Guess it only matters when theres profit to be made, as tin foil hat as that sounds.
First snow of the year in Western NC comes with my mom on the way and us having Biltmore tickets for this afternoon. Should be some gorgeous sights, but it could be dicey. Already have 3-4 inches, suppose to get 2-3 more before it quits in the morning.

A lot of snow across the lake, but only some flurries and light sleet along with cold rain and about 40 here this morning. It's not terrible unless you're out in it. It's about as cold as it was for Sunday D4N last year - that's the way it feels - raw as fuck but damper.

no snow two hours east of you. it is cold and rain has been drizzling all day long. i know northerners laugh at us for complaining about temps in the 30s but i swear there is something different about a cold and wet southern day than a similar cold snowy day up north. something about that wet seeps into your bones.
i've walked around NYC in the snow in december and felt fine, then stepped off the plane back in mobile and been like fuck me it's cold.
Why do y'all live in miserably cold places like that? I am freezing in the 45˚, 93% humidity bullshit we got kicking here. I can't imagine negative temperatures when the "feels like 39˚" is fucking killing me. I am cold to the fucking bone. My space heater is doing nothing.

we have clothes made for our area. i'm not walking around outside when it's cold out. house set to 70, jacket rated for -20. even when i go out for cigs today i'm not really cold. my legs get a little cold by the end, just gotta know how to live with it. oh and we don't have hurricanes or earthquakes here is a plus
