just sent a little bit for you @jonesjupiter. thank you for taking on that project. not to overwhelm everyone with fundraisers, but i created this to help my sister and her friends/neighbors with costs of being displaced and any damage when they return home. www.youcaring.com/angelasilvioandjakevyner-920653

You're just too young to grasp how stylin' I really was. All the boys wanted to do me when I was 5. Actually the girls did too. My haircut was confusing.
Have I mention how much I hate hurricanes? If not, for the record, I fucking hate them.
Yeah, they're the worst. I'm back at work today like nothing ever happened. I would venture to guess that 2 out of 5 people I've talked to have gotten water in their house and or had their car totaled in the last week. So many vehicles got totaled that there's not enough rental cars to go around. I almost feel guilty for getting by as clean as I did.
But someone tried to merge into me on 610 yesterday and I layed on the horn. I started yelling and flung my middle finger out the window when I passed them, when I looked at them in the rear view I could see him laughing and his lady screaming at him at the top of her lungs. So Houston's getting back to normal.
Y'all. Irma looks really, really scary. Projections have it going straight up the west coast of Florida. I don't think there is a worse scenario than that for the state. All the coastal cities would get hammered by the 185 mph winds while the entire state gets potentially flooded by the rain bands to the east of the eye. I have a really bad feeling about it.
If a hurricane of that magnitude hits New Orleans, my house will for sure collapse. Foundations for homes around here are shaky at best. This city will not survive another catastrophic disaster. People will never come back. I know I wouldn't, sad as that is to say.
And can we also talk about all these horrible wild fires raging through the western United States? What will the weather be like in just five years at this rate?

I was just in Seattle this weekend. We noticed the smoke our last day and when we had our layover in Denver.
Coming back to Florida with Irma looming in the distance, yay. Likely evacuating to my sister's house in Alabama tomorrow to be safe. At least this lets us spend time with family? Woo?

It's been crazy smokey in Idaho this year, smoke of some sort for the past 2 months. Visibility for the past week has been in the 2-5 mile range. My lungs are definitely ready for some clear air.
And this year was a record water year as well, the amount of snow pack was massive, set a bunch of flow records for rivers.
One extreme to the other seems to be the norm now.
One of the reasons I feel so lucky about the eclipse, we lucked put and had clear skies for the day.

This storm scares the shit out of me. My mom lives in Springhill, FL and she is all la-tee-da about this. Something about inland, cinder block house, non-low laying area, but this thing is so big and strong I don't think she is taking it as serious as she needs to be. I fucking hate hurricanes.

The smoke in Denver on Monday was insane.
We saw it yesterday, our entire flight from Seattle to Denver was covered in smoke. It wasn't until we got closer to Florida the smoke dissipated.
Good news (for us): the Irma trajectory continues to push east, but who knows what will happen since these damn storms are so unpredictable.
Yeah, so I guess it's a good news/bad news situation that it's projecting to now move up the center/east coast of Florida.
Good news for us in the Gulf states that it probably won't be headed our way. Good news that if it hung out just off the west coast of FL and moved north, it would be strong and destructive and flood much more.
Bad news still for Florida in general. Bad news for those states on the East Coast depending on what it does after Florida.
Also, just a reminder, there is a tropical storm called Jose that's not too far behind Irma. And a tropical storm Katia in the southern Gulf near the tip of Mexico. So this is going to be a long September.
My mom, brother and uncle are all staying and not evacuating. They are all in Florida on the Gulf side. Part of me understands, while the other part does not. I really hope this continues to turn and they are all ok.
The Euro model, typically the most reliable this hurricane season, has repeatedly been showing Irma going up the east coast and staying away from the Gulf.
My gf's uncle lives not far from Ft Lauderdale, and it might get ugly over there.

Jose is pretty far, I imagine it is going to hit the Caribbean pretty hard, possibly FL but idk. Kaita is supposed to be going to inland Mexico, but if it sits in the gulf a while it could maybe do some damage to the TX coast.
My friend just told me she's not evacuating from Naples.
Please tell me that that's ok because literally everything I'm reading is saying it probably isn't.
As someone that rarely evacuates and who didn't even want to leave for Katrina, I understand. I don't think it is smart at all. My mom and them are all over 100 miles away from her on the same coast line and I am worried about them. I would be pleading with her to leave.
EDIT: The only plus side, IF it follows the current models and it is 40 miles off from hitting Miami, at least she is on the left side of the storm. You don't want to be on the right-hand side at all.

My cousin is in the West Palm Beach area and now he's saying he might not leave either.
