Disclosure is pretty forgettable, so have fun throwing that one in the abyss.
I came in here to say pretty much the same thing.
I haven't listened, but that seems to be a pretty popular opinion. Stereogum put out a rough review the other day where they said it was an album that made you question what you liked about the band in the first place.

That's exactly how I feel right now.
I had to replay a few tracks of Settle to remind myself that I actually like this band.

I did the same thing. For a second I wondered if Settle really was that good. Turns out it holds up, it's just this album is as lukewarm as a water bottle that sat in a car for a few hours.
Chvrches was decent, but a little underwhelming. I'm about to start Kurt Vile now. This was my prediction pick for the month, so we'll see if it lives up to my expectations.

mentioned this in the now playing thread but i wholeheartedly agree with the pitchfork review of the new Disclosure. so far it seems like the critical press and fans are in agreement about this records mediocrity.
To me it feels more like a poppy r&b record than a house record.

i still want to catch them live though.
Yup, I've only listened once but stylistically the album seemed like a one-trick pony. No variety at all, and really not much of an organic build in any tracks. Certainly didn't think it was terrible, just spectacularly unspectacular.

What's the official deadline for this month's vote? I feel so behind this month on new music. There's too much - especially after last month's relatively slow month. Not that too much music is a bad thing. I am trying out Glen Hansard and Kurt Vile today.

So, maybe the better question is. Did anyone read it as Deafheaven naturally?
wait just a damn minute!
don't you pronounce is deaf-heaven? like two words? i've been pronouncing it that way for like two years.
EDIT: i missed the initial comment about reading it as a deafhaven. but still would be good to know its not pronounced like dee-feeven or something like that.

I pronounce it like Deaf Heaven. What you guys are talking about has literally never crossed my mind until you brought it up. Deafhaven is probably a better band name.
Also the new Disclosure is pretty PG. It's nothing amazing, or surprising, but it's far from horrible in my opinion. There are several stand out tracks. I think the key difference here, in my opinion and why I think I'll always think Settle is so much better, is because every song on that album was a stand out track. I wish every song on this album was like Bang That or Apollo or Holding On as far as post-Settle songs go. Or so many of the other outrageously sexy and great pre-Settle tracks (see The Face, my god that fucking ep).
But, yeah, that Stereogum review was fuckin' brutal.

My album of the month so far is New Order "Music Complete" Shocked at how good it sounds. Other albums not mentioned here really and I still need to listen to but would like opinions on are Lana Del Ray and The Dead Weathers new albums. I feel Lanas album last year was one of the best of the year so I'm curious about her new one.
