The last common album I listened to was the one with Sweet which is a shot at Drake which was WAY better than Stay Schemeing, Drake's feature reply.
It was all about how he was mad that Drake was banging Serena. I was talking about it the other day and imo the real win is being the one who's currently with Serena, who cares if you don't rap as good.

Just a random thought for today. I listened to RTJ2 and RTJ3 yesterday and this morning. I prefer RTJ2 simply because the first 4 songs in a row is probably my favorite stretch of that length of the decade. However, I actually think if you took RTJ3 down to 10 songs it would have been my favorite hip-hop album of the decade. Like this:
1. Talk to Me 2. Legend Has It 3. Call Ticketron 4. Hey Kids featuring Danny Brown 5. Don't Get Captured 6. 2100 featuring Boots 7. Panther Like a Panther (Miracle Mix) featuring Trina 8. Everybody Stay Calm 9. Hey Mama 10. A Report to Shareholders / Kill Your Masters
The opening track is such a blah start, and there are a few other tracks that I don't consider terrible, but I've just noticed that if you remove them the album feels much less redundant and the remaining tracks I've left all feel like they play a necessary role.
I went through all of my other favorite albums from this decade and thought about them being narrowed to ten and I really think this would have ended up as my favorite. This was just a weird thought experiment that I'm not expecting anyone to care about. Just putting it out into the world.
i like thieves. i have the CD in my car but i pretty much just throw legend has it on repeat and then move on. hey kids and gold are also good.
Can always count on you to say you like a song that I single out as not liking without quoting me lol. I think Thieves and the Kamasi tracks are fine, but the flow of the album just gets a little samey for me around the sections of the album. Stay Gold I actually think is trash.

Stay Gold is def the worst RTJ song (on any of the proper albums at least, some of the loosies they've dropped aren't good either) and it annoys me that they've insisted on playing it every time I've seen them since 3 dropped. I think Thursday in the Danger Room should def be on there though. Otherwise, I like the list. I might swap out Thieves for Don't Get Captured but it's a coin flip really.

Great Talib / EL-P interview. I like the way he is talking about RTJ4...
"We got back in touch with our joy for nasty ass rap records. We want this record to just be a savage fun, funny, angry shit talking record with a couple tangible emotional payoff moments. I think we are making the best record we've ever made."
very excited to finally get Poppin' Tags back in playlists. Definitely the highlight of a bloated BP2. Great Ye beat, Killer Mike, Big Boi, classic.
While bloated, there are still a buncha gems in there. Title track is an all time thumper along with the U Dont Know remix. Watcher 2, Diamond is Forever, scarface and Beanie track, some people hate. The bloating of that album is so Jayz. Made some annoying decisions throughout his career.
