I lack the ability to adequately respond to this with enough snark it deserves. Who's got this?
Soooooo no one has anything to say about the issue of the stage production? I'm truly curious what other people think (especially anyone who might have more insight than I do)

He had a totally different show for Gov. Ball this summer. I assume if he did festival dates he'd change it up again.

I am positive that if they wanted to book Kanye West, the proper accomodations would be made for his stage setup. I doubt it happens because I don't think he'll come back after the way he was treated, but that's neither here nor there.
Wouldn't the responsibility of "making proper accommodations" likely fall on Kanye? They would never shut down What for several hours before a headliner for several reasons, but I could see Kanye minimizing the stage production. As I said before, that wasn't something he was willing to do in 2008 though. But if he didn't bring his full show that he was touring when he played Governors Ball, I guess his attitude has changed.

Other people hate Kanye for what he did in 2008, there aren't that many people that hate him because his music "sucks," because it doesn't. Kanye is one of the most creative artists of our generation, and not too many people dispute that.

Yeah I gave in to his dumbass trolling comments, shoulda have just ignored them. But yeah the size of his stage production would definitely need to be addressed if he was booked to perform, but I don't doubt him and AC/Superfly would find a way to make it work, maybe do something similar to his Coachella set up since it definitely influenced his current concert set-up in terms of dancers and whatnot.

And what exactly are you basing that generalisation on?
I won't deny that Kanye's got some seriously top-notch beats and production skills. I just wish he'd keep his mouth shut whenever he feels like rapping.

He changed mainstream music twice. The first time was when graduation was released the same day as 50 cents album and blew it out of the water with sales. That showed that "gangster rap" was no longer the dominant hip hop style and allowed other artists to follow suit. The second time was with 808's. The album was incredibly influential. As much as I despise him, Drake could be the most popular rapper in the game right now. And his music is clearly influenced by 808's. I think Yeezus will produce the same result.

You forgot "Stronger" which played a significant role in the mainstream crossover of EDM in this country and led to half of pop radio incorporating EDM influences in their music.

Also undoubtedly the de-ballification era. I'm not denying any of these trends, you are completely correct. But you've also named the three worst Kanye records (IMO) and solidified my love-hate relationship with 'ye

Very true, there can also be an argument that Dark Fantasy changed some trends in terms of sampling.

Graduation is my least favorite Kanye album, but there's no doubt it had quite an impact. But I love Yeezus, it's my third favorite Ye album.

I think you're overstating how revolutionary he's been. There's really nothing particularly innovative about songs that rely so damn heavily on drum machines and samples. It's one thing to sample, but it's like he barely even tries to change up what he's sampling. Stronger might as well be Daft Punk karaoke. Does anybody make real shit anymore? I dunno, Kanye - maybe I should ask you the same question.
I really feel like Kanye really must be some sort of idiot savant - more of a savant on the production and just an idiot on the lyrics. His delivery is really nothing special either. I enjoyed MBDTF, and it's his best work IMO - but his verses were by far the weakest part of the album. As far as vocals go, his guests were the ones who carried that thing.
I've tried listening to Yeezus about 5 or 6 times now and I just don't see what everyone is fawning over. At this point, I think Kanye could record himself burping the alphabet and people would still gush over it. At the end of the day, he's just another pop musician. He's been influential to be sure, but you say that as though that automatically makes it a good thing. There were some pretty influential hair metal bands back in the '80s, too. Just because he may have changed the game, that doesn't automatically make it for the better. And I actually think Drake is the perfect example of that.
This is just a bad year for Kanye's chances. After Mumford and Sons had to bail last year, I doubt AC wants to take a chance on a flaky headliner.
Kanye has played a ton of shows since then without much issue, why is he likely to flake?
There are just a lot of other headliners you could sign up and not have to worry about all the extra shit that comes with booking Kanye. When's the last time Dave Matthews got in a scuffle with the papparazzi?

You're wrong. Plain and simple, also people always have the same complaints about Radiohead.

yeah, why have Kanye when we can have Dave Matthews, who tours twice a year!

I do not fault any celebrity for lashing out at those bottom feeders who make a living off being terrible, obnoxious, and sometimes extremely dangerous.
