I could definitely see this being our big "rare" get of the year ala Buffalo Springfield, Stevie, etc... Especially considering SuperFly has a hand in NO JazzFest who were the first ones to book them
Totally on board with this too! Anyone know how their harmonies are sounding these days?
Uncle Jessie played drums with them at Riverbend (in Chattanooga) last year. Riverbend is two weekends in June and whoever I want to see is always Bonnaroo weekend. Last year, Beach Boys, year before B52s. Sigh. I'd be down to see them at 'Roo fo' sho'. I'll ask a friend how their vocals were.
It would be an absolute amazing experience to hear Pet Sounds/Smile material live...they haven't played that stuff since Brian Wilson was touring with the band in the 60's.
-When I Hear My Name -Dead Leaves and the Dirty Ground -Blue Orchid -Passive Manipulation -Red Rain -Death Letter -My Doorbell -Hotel Yorba -Same Boy You've Always Known -Lovesick -Little Ghost -We're Going to Be Friends -The Hardest Button to Button -Black Math -The Nurse -I Just Don't Know What to Do With Myself
Encore: -Ball and Biscuit -Seven Nation Army -Screwdriver
Beach Boys followed by the Who (doing Quadrophenia) on Saturday night. Not sure the Beach Boys would be that great in the dark. Ben Harper followed by Foo Fighters on Friday. Phish or TAB on Sunday.
The first 4 concerts I ever went to were all Beach Boys concerts... this would be amazing. I know they could be headliner material but I personally would love to see them in the Robert Plant spot so we can see them in the sun where they belong!

In a coincidental turn of events I have come into contact with someone today that knows Mike Love of The Beach Boys personally. I'm doing what I can to press for any information of Bonnaroo or other music festival appearances this summer. I'll keep you guys posted

If you can absolutely confirm (or hell, even deny) they will be at Bonnaroo, I will buy you a beer.
First live performance will be at The Grammy's...press conference to follow the next day with tour dates...right around the time Bonnaroo is announced...

OK so I know we've all heard this shit a thousand times before but I've been here for a couple of years so I think you guys should be able to trust that I wouldn't make something like this up. I started up a chat with an old friend of mine on Facebook earlier today and somehow the Beach Boys reunion came up. When I said something about it he mentioned that his Grandma went to school with Jackie Love - Mike Love's wife - and they are very close, and that his Grandpa and Mike became close friends as well
I told him the Bonnaroo rumor mill was buzzing about The Beach Boys possibly making an appearance at Roo with the recent tour and NO JazzFest announcement, and to see if his Grandpa could ask Mike if there was any truth behind it. My friend just messaged me telling me that his Grandpa told him he'd see what he can do.
So that's what I've got. I'll let you guys know ASAP if I find anything out. Keep your fingers crossed!
If you chose to believe Mike Love, he has an interview with Rolling Stone:
I assume the band will be playing outdoor amphitheaters in the U.S.? I'm hoping that we'll do places associated with summer. We're open to doing whatever makes sense, whoever wants us.
