OK Holls... Any recommendations for a place to grab dinner in Chattanooga? Arriving and staying there Wednesday night
SWEET! Y'all are gonna be HERE?!? Call me when you get in (you've got my # on the contact list) and I'll come join you! If you're staying downtown, I'm about a mile away. Let me know what you're in the mood for & I can make recommendations accordingly. (Or, if y'all prefer a nice romantic dinner, that's cool too!)
See you tomorrow! ;D
I'm actually driving up with our friend Lori (A Roo/VIP Noob), Manya is flying up and will be at camp just in time for Thursday evening shenanigans! We have rooms at La Quinta Inn off the 75. Holy crap! leaving tomorrow!

We are staying in Chattanooga on Wednesday night as well. At the La Quinta on West 21St Street.
If you end up planning a dinner let me know, we are game for some pre-Roo festivities.
This morning I called Manchester Police, Coffee County Sheriff, and TN Highway Patrol to verify. (Nobody knew; everybody sounded stressed. Be warned.)
The TDOT dispatch officer confirmed that they never "close" an exit. She said they will have Highway Patrol cars posted at this exit just as in years past.
The Manchester Police Dept. tried to stress the importance of using Exit 111. (I don't think she understood that I said we're VIP.) So make sure you have your VIP hang tag clearly visible when you approach Exit 114, or you might get hassled by the staties.
ALSO: 1st-timers, stay in the right lane as you approach the exit. Merge early. Don't be THAT JERK who cuts off fellow drivers at the last minute. Be nice; the Karma Fairy's watching.
LAW ENFORCEMENT PHONE #s: (not that you'll need 'em, but just in case...)

You're staying on 21st street? LOCK YOUR DOORS. That's not the best neighborhood. Don't worry; you should be OK. But for future reference, stay downtown.
OK, dinner sounds like a great idea! I'll send y'all an email. You have my # from the Contact List, so call or text when you get in. I'll be running around like a decapitated chicken all afternoon... will DEFINITELY NEED a drink!

Do you mean that we should join the line of general admission traffic that will probably form miles before the exit?!

We are at Lake Catherine near Hot Springs,AR heading to nashville in the morning, anyone have any restaurant rec's and possibly a place where we can pick up some local produce and meats in the nashville area? Thank you and safe travels everyone.
"Love need not be a command nor faith a dictum. I am my own god. We are here to unlearn the teachings of the church, state, and our educational system. We are here to drink beer. We are here to kill war. We are here to laugh at the odds and live our lives so well that Death will tremble to take us." — Charles Bukowski

NOOOOOO!!! DO. NOT. DO. THAT. [/color]
I meant that you should get into the right lane when you're about a mile from Exit 114. All the other cars for GA will be on the shoulder. You may have to fight to merge into the exit, so if you wait until the last minute, you could end up being one of THOSE PEOPLE.
We're staying in Chattanooga on Wednesday night as well, at the Holiday Inn Express on Modern Industries Parkway. It makes the drive from Orlando, FL easier. Excited beyond words! See everyone day after tomorrow!
^ Y'all, too? Want to join a bunch of us for dinner? We haven't decided where/when yet, but we'd love to have you & yours! If not, we'll see you Thursday morning.

Been a bit of a lurker and just found this thread. This will be the first 'Roo for my wife and myself. Is it too late to get in on the caravan? I'd love to be a part of the group. I'm so excited

We're in for meeting for dinner, if that happens! So email me once you have ideas on the location.
Looking forward to another year at Roo VIP. Last year was our first time in VIP camping, and we'll never go back to GA now. We had awesome neighbors (from Alberta, I believe) who had a huge shelter and plenty of alcohol. Such a great time! Look for us in the red Honda Fit.
Several local non-chain restaurants downtown have AMAAAAZING food; the Inforoosters I've taken to these places have loved everything. Y'all decide which sounds better and pick a time that works best for everyone. Would 7pm be OK? Here are my picks:
THE TERMINAL BREWHOUSE: This place has a great beer selection. It's easy to find, has plenty of parking, and has an outdoor beer garden where they grow their hops. The temps will be ideal for patio dining.
URBAN STACK BURGER & BOURBON LOUNGE: Great burgers, killer booze selection. It's 1 block from The Terminal. Parking isn't bad, but there can be a wait. I'll call ahead if this is where everyone wants to go.
LUPI'S PIZZA: Best calzone you'll have outside NYC. (It's the size of a regulation NFL football!) This place is in the heart of downtown where parking can be a pain. Worth it for the menu & beer selection. If 'Roo was a pizza place, this is what it would look like. Om nom nom!!!
SUGAR'S RIBS: Local BBQ joint, also downtown, 1 block from Lupi's. Cheap, tasty, with adjacent lot & street parking.
Y'all pick & let me know! Feel free to call or text if you want more info.

We're great with any of those! Personally, probably go for either the Brewhouse or the Burgers and Bourban place. But any of those are good with us.
Ron and I will be heading out tomorrow afternoon. We are in Blue Ridge Ga, (about 3 hours away from Murfreesboro) and will be stopping to grab supplies along he way. So far, I know that we have us, TickTrix, Kyle and Jamie, xrayspex and graham, Manya and Jeff, and Nicole? staying in the M-boro... Dinner on Wednesday?

The hubby and are in Chattanooga off of exit 5, so we would love to join you all for dinner. We are going to Rock City this morning afternoon (I haven't been there since I was a wee one), but I'll check here on my phone periodically to see what the plan is or if someone will shoot me an email or text message (my info is on the VIP sheet). We definitely want to eat somewhere more "local" than chain restaurants we've been grubbing for the last two days, so all of those sound good, and any time is good since we'll be free after being touristy in the afternoon.
I am curious about this exit 114 thing. I just checked the back of the parking pass and it says to exit 105 NOT exit 114 and then take the back road route 41 down to Kimberly road.

Are you all taking exit 114 instead?
I plan to take Exit 114 since that's the exit where we need to be. However, if the staties give us grief (gentle persuasion usually helps resolve this) and they force us to take Exit 105, then so be it.
Be prepared for anything. We'll wing it tomorrow. It will all work out, no worries. Just keep your phone charged in case I/we need to send out an APB to the crew.

Great! I can't wait to meet y'all! To save time, I'll just make a decision now so you won't have to keep checking your phone all day!
Let's meet at 7pm at TERMINAL BREWHOUSE (6 E. 14th St, Chattanooga, TN 37408).
It's easy to find (beside the Chattanooga Choo Choo, near Market at Main Sts), with plenty of parking behind the building. I'll try to arrive early so we can get a table at the upstairs outdoor patio. (Not sure if they take reservations; if they do, I'll put it under my name.) There is seating in the foyer if you want to wait there or at the bar. You can't miss me: I'm the one wearing the 'Roo necklace.

Will do. Thanks, holls. For the record, I'm an expert at gentle persuasion.
Have fun at the dinner tonight. See you all tomorrow morning.
