I listened to this off NPR too. I think "interesting" is a good way to describe it.
To be clear, I didn't mean that in a bad way - but I think with most of the songs, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts, if that makes sense. Admittedly I'm a bit biased as I use a fair number of spoken word samples in my own music, so I have a soft spot for others that do too.

I was using it more in the idea that I would be hard pressed to put a score on it. If someone asked what I thought of it, interesting would be much more likely to be the word than good or bad.
