Bob Burnquist? Steve Caballero? Bucky Lasek? George Powell?
I've asked this question a bunch of different places and gotten dozens of different answers, kinda love the complete lack of consensus
It likely depends on what era of skateboarding someone came up in and whether or not they played Pro Skater x. and did they play as Tony Hawk, another skater or as themselves? My little brother who is 46 came up with Powell-Peralta boards. I had a generic skate way back but then got a later generation John Cardial Radioactive Deck in 2001 (can't even find pictures on the web) which had Creeper Trucks (skull and batwings) and then the flaming Spitfire wheels. It was an OG styled skate but I didn't know who Cardial was at the time. Friends back in the mid-1980's rode Vision Gator's (I think Gator committed murder or died or something).
If the question is taken at face value, I would say Rob Dyrdek. I didn't even know Shaun White also skateboarded. The only other mentioned name I know is Bam (and I didn't know he was a professional skateboarder either). Before right now, Tony and Rob are the only two names I could associate with the sport. Fame is name recognition, if you really want to ask who was second best, I excuse myself from the conversation as I have no idea.
Shaun White has Olympic metals for skateboarding and snowboarding. I thought everyone knew that crazy redhead.

Oh, I know him, but I only know him as a snowboarder! To be fair, I am not sure I have ever watched the summer Olympics so that's on me then. Although, I don't remember his name getting tossed around this year. Wasn't this year the first year skateboarding was in it?
Welcome back Bonz, but I do not find it strange that your presence being requested in the Orgy thread and then you showing up, like it was the quacking Bonzai Bat Signal.

yeah I think I'm leaning towards Dyrdek as "the second most famous person primarily for their skateboarding". Bam and Shaun are disqualified. The actual GOAT is definitely Rodney Mullen though
Who do y'all think is the second most famous skateboarder of all time?
Bam Margera. Or Jason Lee.
Based solely on skateboarding... Nyjah Houston? Rodney Mullen? Steve Berra (cause of The Berrics)?
Adding Rob Dyrdek in there with Margera and Lee to point out the issue I would have with naming a second most famous is that those three at least are arguably skateboarders who are more famous for other things than they are for skateboarding.

One can also argue that I know Rob from Rob and Big, not from skateboarding, but at least I was well aware that he was a snowboarder

at least Fantasy Factory was fairly skateboard-centric, as opposed to Viva La Bam

2020...maybe I am thinking X-Games. I know he skates though.

There is an abundance of shitty people. But give me a 90 degree day over a 20 degree day any time.
You can always add layers but there's only so many layers you can remove. Also, the sun wants to straight-up murder you.
I don't want to add 4, 5 or even 6 layers. I don't want to have to go out in snow pants to keep from getting too wet in the cold- at least not on a regular day that I'm not going out to play in the snow . And 90 (or even 100) isn't exactly Phoenix where it might get into the upper 1-teens or even 120's. I also want to be able to swim at least 7 or 8 months out of the year rather than maybe 6 weeks except if in a heated pool. Sunshine > Jet Stream clouds and milky white skies. I really don't care if it's 98 (which it is today) and sunny. I wear cotton anyway.

I can't get warmed up when it's cold. It takes a whole lot for me to be miserably hot. I like when the sun tries to murder you, I usually throw on skates and bask in it. True story. Also, pools!

i mean i don't really wear layers in the winter... i just have a real winter jacket rated for -40 or some shit. it's been upper 80s/low 90s here pretty much all summer but the high on saturday was 73 and it was glorious. basically just stay inside all winter, it's like covid times!

I have my line, but in reality this is me. I wear tanks/short sleeves even in the winter. I don't even own a sweater or other long sleeves outside of sweatshirts and jackets. There are people here that have seen me in flip flops in the snow too.

we sleep with our window cracked even at -10 lol. we also have dog heat in the bed to keep us warm
I was doing some digging for sweaters yesterday to bring to Roo and man I can't wait to bring them all out. I own more sweaters and sweatshirts than I do shirts and pants combined (I don't have a problem I don't)
