If I'm not mistaken Dr. Dog and Benevento/Russo Duo have also played the VIP gig in previous years. This will be my first VIP experience. I'm wondering where and when it typically is.
John: We don't even understand our own music Spider: It doesn't, does it matter whether we understand it? At least it'll give us . . . strength John: I know but maybe we could get into it more if we understood it
The VIP show is Thursday night and they set up a small stage in VIP camping near the largest hospitality tent. Typically beer is a free and a basic dinner is provided.

This. It's very laid back. A great time to meet other VIP'rs - and drink free beer.

Yeah, what time? (Or did I miss the answer? I had some wine and corn, so even though I looked back over the above replies I might've missed the answer lol)
It starts at either 7 or 8, can't remember. Goes till 10 or 11 I think. These times are probably all incorrect.
The band has never been announced in advance. Doubt it will be this year. You just have to weigh free food/beer/private show against who is playing and make a decision. There is plenty of time to make the later shows that night.
The insert that came with the ticket package states that the VIP party starts at 7:30 and entertainment starts at 8:30. Also "they will start serving food earlier if you would like to beat the crowd" but no time is given for that.

The other band from 2009 was American Princes BTW. They were also great! They usually do not announce the artists ahead of time (except that I think they might write the names on a wipe board by the food tent), but the show usually goes from 8:30 to 11 ish and the acts are pretty much from the lower part of the card (but not the bottom). It's a good thing!
